Homeowners invited to free workshop on loan modifications

Wells Fargo and subsidiary Wachovia said today that thousands of Southern Nevada homeowners have been invited to attend a free workshop to explore loan modifications for those homeowners in financial difficulty.

The three-day event, set for July 9-11, is for customers of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Wells Fargo Financial, Wachovia Mortgage and Wells Fargo Home Equity.

The workshops run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Las Vegas Hilton Convention Area at 3000 Paradise Road, Las Vegas.

“This workshop is another example of our efforts to reach out to homeowners who are facing payment challenges and provide answers on the options available for them,” Joe Ohayon, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage senior vice president for Community Relations, said in a statement. “Wells Fargo is committed to helping people stay in their homes.”

The bank said that more than 200 Wells Fargo "home retention" specialists will work one-on-one with customers to reduce mortgage payments when possible for customers facing payment challenges.

Wells Fargo said that in many cases, borrowers may receive a decision on a loan modification or other option on site or shortly following the workshop.

Options include the federal government’s Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) and Wells Fargo’s own loan modification program.

Wells Fargo said walk-ins are welcome, but registration is strongly recommended to guarantee the ability to meet with a representative.

Customers should sign up by Tuesday, July 6. For more information, call 800 405-8067.
