Barricaded man
Metro Police responded to a mobile home community in the eastern Las Vegas Valley after a man barricaded himself inside his trailer this morning and threatened to shoot at officers.
Metro spokeswoman Officer Barbara Morgan said marshals served the homeowner an eviction notice last week and went to the home about 7:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of Cabana Drive to evict him. Morgan said marshals noticed signs were posted all over the home threatening to shoot officers if they entered.
The location is near the intersection of East Vegas Valley Drive and South Nellis Boulevard. Neighbors have been evacuated but no streets have been closed, police said.
Morgan said police have made phone contact with the man and are trying to persuade him to leave the home.

ill say it...bulldoze the east side!!!
Society should quit picking on this guy. He just wants to keep his home. Where is Obama and harry Reid?
There's a massive amount of desperation and dispair in the valley; You can say "Oh, it's THOSE people"... but the truth is, it's your friend, your neighbor, your EX co-worker, a parent, brother or sister.
From Sunrise Mountain to Summerlin, people are experiencing tragic
troubles. I don't think it's an "eastside" of Las Vegas problem, kids.
People like "nieman" like to kick people when they're
down. That's sad.
And the endless, nonsensical, retarded politicizing of people's misery is shameful.
I recently went through bankruptcy, and as part of that, I gave up our house. So I know what it's like to lose your home. But we need to be clear that this man in the story could be losing his for any number of reasons. It might have nothing to do with the foreclosure problems other people have experienced. And while I sympathize with the fear of losing one's home and perhaps having nowhere else to go, that's still not an excuse for his threats to police. I don't know that he didn't turn down offers to refinance, etc. I hope he's able to get help. As for blaming Obama and Reid, quit using these stories as a sorry excuse for your trolling. Not every home that's lost is a direct result of the burst bubble, and not every home can be saved as such. And most of us got into our own trouble when we signed on to the ARM loans. That was my fault, and it was my responsibility to deal with it. It was not the government's responsibility to bail me out of it. Neither democrats nor republicans forced me to sign the papers.
I applaud Metro for not over-reacting with a knee-jerk reaction and go in blazing away. We're dealing with desperation here.
