Steve Barklis is the owner’s representative for Newport Beach, Calif.-based Tarsadia Hotels, which recently re-opened The Shoppes at Harmon Square, a newly renovated and rebranded retail center located at Paradise Road and Harmon Avenue, in the Las Vegas Resort Corridor. Barklis has been a real estate consultant for over twenty years and has completed consulting assignments on behalf of public and private sector clients for property types including office, medical office, retail, industrial, self-storage, hotel, condo-hotel, apartments, mobile home parks, mixed use properties, congregate care and land. Barklis started his career in commercial real estate with the Grubb & Ellis Company in Arizona in 1982 earning the title of senior marketing consultant. In 1992, Barklis became director of real estate consulting for John Burnham & Company (now Cushman & Wakefield) in San Diego. During his tenure at Burnham, Barklis also managed the Special Assets Group, specializing in underwriting, management, disposition and acquisition of non-performing real estate loans. In 1996, Barklis started Solana Vista Consulting, with offices in San Diego and Newport Beach, Calif. In addition, he managed the acquisition, entitlement, asset management and development of large, mixed use projects including the Hyatt Regency Orange County and the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego. In 2009, Barklis formed Solana Advisors, LLC a firm specializing in the evaluation, workout and disposition of non-performing real estate loans. He is a Certified Commercial Investment Member and a member of the Urban Land Institute.
