Robert Carroll, CPA, is director of financial services for The Howard Hughes Corporation, an affiliate of General Growth Properties, Inc., of Chicago, Illinois. In this capacity, Carroll is responsible for all aspects of financial and management accounting for the master-planned community of Summerlin, including annual business plans, earnings and cash flow estimates, special improvement district financings, valuation models and financial analysis. Carroll was previously the manager of tax planning and research for The Rouse Company which acquired the Hughes organization in 1996 giving him a nearly 22-year tenure with the company. Carroll also worked as a senior tax specialist for KPMG Peat Marwick in Baltimore. He serves on the board of directors for The Summerlin Council, the Summerlin West Community Association and as president of The Ridges Community Association. Carroll has a bachelor’s degree in accounting, having graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland, as well as an associate’s degree in business administration from Montgomery College.
