A 26-year-old Las Vegas man pleaded not guilty during his first appearance Friday in Las Vegas Justice Court in connection with the June 1 shooting death of a man at an apartment complex west of the Stratosphere.

Herbie Moore was charged with murder with a deadly weapon in connection with the death of Patrick Beverly, 25.

Moore was also charged with two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon for allegedly shooting two women during the same incident. He was also charged with discharging a firearm at or into a structure as well as two counts of battery.

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure set Moore's preliminary hearing for 9 a.m. July 28. Moore is currently in the Clark County Detention Center.

Metro Police said they received a call about 8:30 p.m. June 1 that there had been a shooting in the 300 block of West Cleveland Avenue.

When officers arrived, they said they found Beverly dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities also found two women who had been shot and had them transported to University Medical Center, officers said.

Moore, who was seen fleeing from the area, was later arrested. Court records show he has been on probation since April 2009 for attempted possession of a stolen vehicle.
