As director of engineering for Martin & Martin Civil Engineers, Kenneth Welden is responsible for all project managers and engineering design, including grading, drainage, utilities and traffic. He provides guidance and direction to staff in order to ensure high quality of work and client satisfaction on all of the company’s projects. Welden has proven expertise through more than 18 years of civil engineering experience in several areas, including project management, coordination and scheduling, quality control and assurance, development code analysis, land development planning and design, utility analysis and design and sustainable site design. Prior to his current position, Welden worked for RA Smith National in Brookfield, Wisc. as a project engineer, project manager and group manager. He also served as a staff engineer, CAD technician, crew chief, instrument man and rod man for Nienow Engineering & Associates in Milwaukee, Wisc. His experience in the Midwest taught him how to maintain the day-to-day and long-range health of an engineering team as well as how to design large-scale retail projects. Some of his former projects include on-site civil design aspects as well as off-site infrastructure improvements. Welden has also conducted and managed site due diligence studies over 25 states. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and holds his professional engineer’s license in Wisconsin, Nevada, Iowa, Massachusetts, Washington and Virginia. Welden is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the International Council of Shopping Centers and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.
