As vice president and general counsel for Fine Properties, Joe Cain is responsible for overseeing various operations of the company and all legal matters. Fine Properties is the owner and operator of several businesses including Silver Nugget Gaming, Las Vegas Coffee Investors (dba The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf) and several real estate holdings and development projects. Cain serves as chairman of the North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; is a past president of the William S. Boyd School of Law Alumni Association and continues to sit on its board; serves on the University of Nevada Las Vegas Alumni Association Board of Directors; is a member of the North Vista Hospital Governing Board, the North Las Vegas Downtown Investors Stakeholders Group and the Las Vegas Mountaineers Club; is a past member of the North Las Vegas Downtown Branding Task Force; and is a Georgetown University interviewer. He and his wife, Christina Dugan, are the parents of two children. Cain’s interests and hobbies include downhill skiing, hiking, mountaineering, reading and playing guitar. Cain received a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in international law and organization from Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C., graduated summa cum laude from the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV in 2001, and is an associate editor for the Nevada Law Journal. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Cain spent several months working in Alaska at a salmon cannery and as a logger, after which he backpacked through Australia and Southeast Asia. He then worked as an issues analyst with McMullen Strategic Group, as a management trainee with Mirage Resorts, Inc., and oversaw the government affairs division of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, where he was involved with public policy analysis and political advocacy. After law school, Cain was an associate attorney with Lionel Sawyer & Collins, where he practiced primarily in the gaming and regulatory arena and a partner with McMullen & Cain, Attorneys at Law, where he worked on a wide variety of legal matters.
