Approximate crash location
The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified a motorcyclist killed Tuesday in a collision on Las Vegas Boulevard North near Interstate 15 as 22-year-old Travis Franklin of Las Vegas.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chelita Rojas said a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling southbound on Las Vegas Boulevard near the Apex Landfill about 4 p.m. when it collided with a Suzuki motorcycle traveling northbound.
The Silverado entered the northbound lane to pass two semi trucks and collided with the motorcycle, troopers said. Franklin was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup was taken to University Medical Center with unknown injuries, authorities said.

R.I.P. Travis. Don't ride motorcycles in Las Vegas people, Drivers of cars and trucks act like they don't exist...
I hope the driver of the pickup truck is punished. But, sadly, in Las Vegas, reckless drivers are not punished.
Live in Las Vegas, and eventually you or someone you love will be killed or maimed by a reckless driver. The DUI attorneys love it. More money for h00kers.
So are charges going to be filed? Unsafe passing resulting in wrongful death should be a criminal offense, right?
Riding a motorcycle in Las Vegas is a daredevil stunt..No matter how safe you drive it, someone in a car sooner or later will stop your clock..24 hour booze being served to pissed off gamblers and others on the road who are just jerks will eventually close your book..
someone in a car sooner or later will buy your farm, cash your check, punch your ticket, ring your bell, walk your street
To the person that hopes the person in the truck gets punished? Accidents in Vegas happen all the time...Doesn't matter what your driving. Why is it if its a person on a motorcycle thats killed it's poor them...But when they drive 90 down the freeway doing wheelies and cutting in and out of traffic it's okay? Makes no sense to me...They are just as bad as people in cars/trucks in my opinion...
Motorcycle drivers are willfully participating in a high risk activity. Excuse me if I don't get too worked up about this.
Kympossible, While I agree with you that some motorcycle riders sre bad drivers, speeders, reckless and all that, In this case it is clearly reported that the truck crossed into the lane of the motorcycle. Nothing in the article stated that this motorcycle rider was doing anything wrong. The truck was traveling South in the Northbound lane. No reason to blame the rider on this one. I think the pickup driver made a foolish decision and it cost another person his life. Some form of punishment is justified in this case. The reason I confine my motorcycle riding to off road only is because the roads are too dangerous.
Condolances to the Franklin family and friends.
yes charges are going to be pressed however the guy is running:( but the cops will hopefully be able to find him, he worked at the same job site as my brother. The summer season is just starting and sadly enough you are going to see a lot more of these acccidents. Fellow motorcyclist take caution, wear your helmets and protective gear, and for gods sake be watching at all times, people in cars and trucks just dont't look for us so we have to look for them. If you ride with your high beams on during the daylight it does help, in fact the more lights on the front of your bike the better. Lets be safe out there
