From the special publications editor

Dear readers,

This week marks the 10th anniversary of In Business Las Vegas – the leading business publication in Southern Nevada. This special section ¬– as well as a majority of the regular issue this week – is dedicated to the progress and milestones in the local business community and the paper as a whole over the last decade.

I took over as the editor of special publications in July 2004. That was after spending eight and a half years with the Las Vegas Sun, most of that tenure as the assistant sports editor.

The special publications facet of In Business Las Vegas has undergone tremendous change during the last six years. We have been pleased to honor some of the key players in the business community through our various events and soirees.

Those include our special sections such as 40 Under 40, Most Influential Men and Women, Nevada Entrepreneur Awards, Women To Watch, Health Care Headliners, Best Places To Work, Small Business Administration Awards, SIR Awards, Emerging Leaders in Real Estate and the Angel Awards.

Particularly, our 40 Under 40 program has grown by leaps and bounds and has grown into a prestigious honor with hundreds of nominations annually. As part of this anniversary section, we have selected one honoree from each of the 10 years and provided you an update – a “Where are they now,” if you will.

A special thank you goes out to the advertisers who have supported us during the last 10 years. In that first issue back in 2000, Nevada State Bank purchased a “welcome to the neighborhood” ad. A decade later, the bank is still using our pages and sponsorships at events as a vehicle to get its message across.

Cox Business, a sponsor of this section and a variety of our publications and events over the years, has also been a longtime supporter. Thanks, too, to LAVO Las Vegas for hosting our anniversary party. We truly appreciate the backing.

And, a note of thanks also to all of the readers who have picked us up on a weekly basis, some dating back a decade. With the changes in technology, that’s either via your mailbox, In Box or a newsstand.

We appreciate your support and look forward to continuing to honor the best and the brightest in the local business world and bringing you the news you can use each week.
