2 men critically injured in rural Sunday crash

Two men are in critical condition after suffering head injuries in a one-vehicle rollover accident Sunday on State Road 165, Boulder City Police said today.

Police said officers responded at about 7 p.m. and found a silver 2004 Volkawagen Passat flipped over off the roadway near milepost three on State 165, near the rural town of Nelson.

Michael Schultz, 20, from Henderson, and a passenger, Cory Bradbury, 22, were found in the vehicle unconscious but breathing. Police said Schultz had injuries to his head and arm; Bradbury suffered injuries to his head.

Boulder City Fire personnel had to extricate both men from the vehicle. Schultz was taken to University Medical Center in a ground ambulance and Bradbury was airlifted, police said.

The accident is under investigation by the Boulder City Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau. Excessive speed appears to be a contributing factor, authorities said.
