Politicians would be outlawed if lying were illegal

Steve Metz suggested in his Sunday letter to the editor — headlined “How about this plan to deal with lying politicians?” — that lies the politicians tell us should be outlawed.

That simply won’t work because we wouldn’t have any politicians left. As the old saying goes, “How do you know if politicians are lying? Their lips are moving.”
