'Suspicious' fire

An arson-related fire caused about $100,000 damage overnight to a home in Henderson, according to fire officials.

The fire cause was determined to be suspicious in nature and possibly arson-related, firefighters said. There were no injures to firefighters or anyone at the home, authorities said. The blaze was the third 'suspicious' Henderson home fire in two days.

Firefighters said they responded to a report of a workshop on fire at 1:13 a.m. at 241 Honeywood Street, which is in the Green Valley area near Valle Verde Drive and Windmill Parkway.

A passerby reported the fire by 911 and then notified the homeowner to evacuate the structure, firefighters said.

Firefighters said when they arrived, they found that the attached storage shed was on fire and that the blaze had spread into the attic space of the home.

Firefighters said heat from the blaze had broken out the windows on the home next to the fire. They said they had the fire extinguished in about 15 minutes.
