LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Take it from a business owner, Angle is right

Friday, July 30, 2010 | 2:03 a.m.

In response to a Tuesday letter to the editor from Matt Hafenbreadl, in which he castigates Republican Senate nominee Sharron Angle for her statement that, as a senator, it would not be her job to create jobs:

As a sole proprietor/small-business owner, I will tell you that a senator cannot create a job for me. A senator cannot make me create a job for someone else. But a senator can help to create an environment for me as a small-business operator whereas I can grow and flourish, thereby allowing me to create a job or jobs.

That environment would be free of uncertainty on future tax increases, escalating energy costs and health care costs, among other things.

Unfortunately, President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are not doing that. In fact, they have me scared to death about my small-business prospects.

What will I do? I’ll wait. Like every other small-business operator I know.

So, from a small-business owner point of view, what Sharron Angle says is correct.
