Peggy Selma is principal for 100 Academy of Excellence. Previously, Selma was a special consultant for the Nevada Education Department, assisting underperforming schools.

Chris Lane is marketing specialist for Colliers International. Lane is responsible for creating marketing materials, maintaining data reports and supporting client communication for Doherty Industrial Group.

Ann Warren was promoted to director of adult day services, and Joleen Arnold was promoted to director of vocational rehabilitation for Easter Seals Southern Nevada.

Linda Bucar is accounting specialist for Helping Hands of Vegas Valley. She concurrently serves as a part-time accountant for the law firm Green Infuso.

Lorine Hanson is an interior designer V, and Alana Spacil is an interior designer IV for JMA.

Tacho Kneeland is executive chef at Lolita’s Cantina & Tequila Bar.

Meegan M. Lancaster is executive pastry chef for Tropicana Las Vegas. Before joining Tropicana, Lancaster was executive pastry chef at Daniel Boulud Brasserie at Wynn Las Vegas.

Debra Marcusson is Clark County Laughlin extension educator for the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. Marcusson’s responsibilities will include a community needs assessment and development of educational programs for residents in Cal-Nev-Ari, Laughlin and Searchlight.

Carol Foster is campus college chairwoman of the college of education, and Allison Pashley is campus college chairwoman of the college of social sciences at the Las Vegas campus of University of Phoenix.

Angeline R. Pierson has been promoted from associate to research analyst at Urban Environmental Research.

Awards

Steve Schorr, Las Vegas vice president of public and government affairs for Cox Communications, received the J. Pat Finley Child Protection Lifetime Achievement Award at the State Clearinghouse/Nonprofit Organization national conference July 15.

Also, Cox Communications was awarded the 2010 North American Price Performance Value Leadership award by Forst & Sullivan.

International Association of Business Communicators Pacific Plains Region Silver Quill award winners were: Jaclyn Anderson of Q ad | pr-award of merit in the marketing communication category for the Nevada Development Authority’s “Kiss Your Assets Goodbye” campaign; and Victor Rodriguez of Eurie Creative-excellence award in the special events internal or external category for the Digital Showcase campaign.

Corporate giving

Carter Powersports raised $1,095 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation at a charity garage sale.

Dollar Loan Center increased its commitment of donating $100 for each day that the temperature reaches 100 degrees to Opportunity Village. The company is donating $200 for each such day to help with the rebuilding of the organization’s thrift store.

Miscellaneous

The Regional Flood Control District celebrated the groundbreaking of the Floyd Lamb Park North and South Environmental Enhancement Areas designed by J.W. Zunino & Associates, June 30. The $22 million project is expected to take 18 months to complete.

Inovium Corporation, a developer of electronic invoicing and payment systems, and Global eTelecom, Inc. (GETI), an electronic check processing and gift/loyalty card provider, are partnering to integrate Inovium’s InoviumPay 2.0 online invoicing and payment system with the GETI processing system.

Tivoli Village at Queensridge has signed the law firm Kolesar & Leatham as its first office tenant. The firm will move to the mixed-use development when it opens in spring 2011.

VIRGEN has partnered with Silverpop, a provider of permission-based e-mail marketing services. With the Silverpop Engage platform, VIRGEN will be able to create and manage multichannel marketing campaigns that reach millions of individuals, one at a time.
