LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Angle wants to be in a government she disparages?
Friday, July 30, 2010 | 2:02 a.m.
Republican Senate nominee Sharron Angle says bringing jobs to Nevada would not be her job as our senator.
Now in her television ad we have her spouting that the government is not the solution, but that the government is the problem. If that’s the case, why is she trying like hell to become part of that problem?

The only reason any politician runs for office is self aggrandisement. She will get to keep the campaign donations.
Wanting to change a broken system is the best reason to run for office. We all complain about a federal government that cannot or will not do its intended purpose and we need people committed to changing it and not just following Nancy Pelosi's vision of America.
Look at the problem getting immigration laws enforced. Not passing a new one, just enforce the ones that have been on the books for decades. We need to retire the old man and send Angle to Washington.
"Oh No! Reporters want to ASK ME QUESTIONS...
Good Lord, what would I SAY? EVERY TIME I open my mouth to speak, I forget what "my people" SCRIPTED FOR ME!
Oh my word, this is so difficult... well, phooey. GOD will put words in my mouth, and out they'll tumble! People call me CRAZY, but it's THE LORD working THROUGH ME... I have no control over it. My friend John Ensign speaks in TONGUES! Look what HE'S accomplished! We'll be The God Squad! Nevada's "CHOSEN TWO"!
Harry Reid is The Devil!
Have you seen my SPACESHIP?
"If that's the case, why is she trying like hell to become part of that problem?"
Good question. I think the answer is that God gave her a "calling" to try to get voted in and screw everything up.
Wow, uddeboda. Looks like Mrs. Sharron Angle spends more time running from the press and doing this pick and choose thing. Now, she's running from the truth on FaceBook? How much longer can she conduct a campaign where all she does is play damage control, walk back statements, change viewpoints like the wind and still try to remain marketable? While at the same time, run from the press?
It just can't happen.
As it stands now, a vote for her would simply be a vote for total and complete insanity.
Perhaps Reid is the man we need in DC.
He has no problem cutting big deals behind closed doors with big business and perhaps getting some cash sent his way or to his lobbyist family under the door.
He is slime.
Perhaps that is what we need.
Sharon Angle is constantly smiling like the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland. I don't trust individuals who are constantly smiling! I also don't like and trust those that are frowning all the time like Harry Reid!
Sue Lowden, the Marie Antoinette of Nevada, has thankfully been eliminated as a possible U.S. Senator. She, like Angle and Reid would have been another loser choice for the office.
We really have lousy candidate choices for U.S. Senator. I frankly believe that "None of
These" will get a bushel full of votes in November and that is a real waste.
She gets to keep the campaign donations even if she fails to beat Reid yes?
You betcha..
:-)

Bewildering
::::::::::::::::::::::::
Angle is a comic and it is very bewildering to see women like her, Oil Spill Sarah, ChickenSueLowden and M. Bachmann getting so much press and following as most intelligent women sit back and wonder from whilst these bimbos came
:::::::::::::::::
Is this what the liberation and bra burning thing has wrought America?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
If so, then it has turned out to be a tremendous bust in all categories
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
All candidates for office should be, by law, made to take a written test on grammar, multiplication and spelling .... perhaps this may give society someone of at least some modicum of intelligence if they get elected, and, sign an oath not to take their clothes off in Washington DC like the hater Engisngee who votes against his own folks here who desperately need benefits extentions .... is this jerk still in office?

Sharon Angle might not be as good looking as Sarah Palin but take heart, she's just as dumb.

fosimmons: Candidates are required to pass the test of the voters. That is, if the voters don't believe the candidate has what it takes then they don't vote for him or her. Sure you assassinate the character of John Ensign but remember not too long ago he happened to save someone's life who was having a medical emergency. I'm sure that if he was the evil Rethuglican you believe him to be he probably should have asked what party or race the person was before he administered first aid. Your message infers that's the prism you seem to think we should all view through. I'm sorry you have such a poor view of your country.
So fosimmons you seem comfortable with a representative who sold you out to Nebraska for 300 million and whatever they gave folks like Landreu and Lincoln. Heck Kucinich sold out for a plane ride and Bart Stupak sold his soul for a bogus executive order. Your belief follows that of Prince Harry in that, "You aren't a good legislator unless you steal from someone else to bring home the bacon for your state."
Do any of the lefty posters here understand what a love of country is? People shed blood for the freedoms you seem so blithe to give away under the guise of "reform." You live on soundbit politics and regurgitate party dogma as if you have a chip implanted in your head running Harry Reid commercials. I'd give a hundred dollars to see the look on a liberal's face when his or her doctor says, "You're too fat, we're jacking up your insurance and putting you in the government high risk pool. If you don't follow the program and lose weight the IRS will assess you a fat tax for your additional BMI."
"soundbite" Sorry, three proofs didn't catch that one.
bbtbrain thinks the government will say, "You're too fat, we're jacking up your insurance and putting you in the government high risk pool. If you don't follow the program and lose weight the IRS will assess you a fat tax for your additional BMI."
I hear that happens all the time in the 37 countries whose healthcare systems rank ahead of the U.S. I think in Cuba you even have to go in front of a "death panel" if you're 10 pounds overweight.
Boo!
psycho sharron wants to inject religion into government...
yippie!!!
udde: I'm being facetious.
I have no doubt healthcare is rendered without conditions in the 37 systems ranked higher than the U.S.
Most of my family members don't even have health insurance/healthcare due to unemployment, preexisting conditions, etc. Oh do we know how poor our system is!
Do we really want another someone to go to congress to say NO.
Republicans are distroying our country such as
Republicans Block Bill to Aid Small Business
Republicans want the country to fail!!
In my 50 years as a regristered republican, Sharon Angle ranks in the top 5 double talking, loud mouthed hipocritical, dumb, stupid people ever to run for office. By the time she learns where the lunch room is, six years would have passed and she would want to be re-elected. That's just a short list of her good points. I won't even get into her bad points
It seems that if you believe that government is too big and not very effective that sitting on the sidelines and sending people who believe that government has all the answers to Washington (or Carson City) is the wrong thing to do. You cannot weed your garden by sitting on your couch. The big question is will Sharron have the kind of impact on the system that most people want or not. It seems clear that we cannot continue to just shovel money at every problem that pops up. We need to find better solutions and I don't see many people out there that seem to want to really do that.
Jane Schmidt for President!
Absolutely delightful viewpoint. Makes me want to move to Pahrump if they got Janes walking around like that!
Eat some Schmidt, Angle!!! Eat some Schmidt.
What could I possibly gain by asking SA to represent ME? a goofy dodger, a dreaming substitute? a free-loader with a remedy...for anybody! Terminate SS, Medicare, EPA, DOE, Education and do it before anyone has a chance to comment, then run away and call it representation???
How is this representation?
Is what my fellow Nevadans are asking for? Really???
Eat Schmidt, Angle!
Best campaign slogan ever.
ps: Who's Jane Schmidt?
The big question that must be answered is, "can the Sharron Angle camp keep her under wraps for the next 95 days?"
Every time the woman opens her mouth, she convinces a few more of the voting public that she's in over her head, and totally unqualified for the job she's seeking....
Maybe she should follow the Calvin Coolidge approach to politics?
"I have never been hurt by what I did not say."
(Calvin Coolidge, 1924 presidential candidate)
Sharron Angle holds the far-right conservative Republican dream of rolling back the "New Deal" of the 1930s and returning America to a pre-Great Depression era. The only problem with that is that the pre-Great Depression era led directly to the Great Depression--the largest economic collapse in U.S. history.
Angle believes in:
1) Abolishing the U.S. Department of Education, upon the presumption that the government should not be involved in the education of children, only the private sector. The problem with that? Finland has the best education system in the world, and it's run by their government.
2) Angle wants to privatize Social Security. All of those retirees who just lost their nest eggs in the recent market crash should--well, forget about it, and invest again. Better luck next time. After all, the free market --and all of the risks associated with it--is the best of all possible worlds.
3) Angle wants to abolish Medicare. Again, those retirees need to get back out there and WORK! Until they drop dead! Lazy old folks! (Angle, by the way, is going after a Senate job that pays $174,000 per year and that provides generous health and retirement benefits. She better hope that she gets it too--as she is 61 years old and just four years short of retirement age!)
4) Angle does not believe in global warming or that man is having a negative effect on the environment or on its wildlife. She thinks that Las Vegas air quality is A-OK. She believes the Gulf Oil spill will help our endangered coral reefs and turtles and that they have black beaches, anyway, in Hawaii (no matter that they are from black volcanic sand). Angle, like Palin, firmly believes that we must "drill, baby, drill" along every inch of our coastline that BP and other corporations can get their hands on.
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/...
5) Angle loves the idea of storing the nation's nuclear waste just outside of Las Vegas. She promises that she and her descendents will zealously guard it for the next 10,000 years.
6) Not surprisingly, Angle has zero interest in alternative "clean" energy.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/jul...
7) Angle would like the United States to withdraw from the United Nations. One of the reasons for this is because, in her opinion, the United Nations serves as an "umpire on fraudulent science such as global warming."
http://www.time.com/time/health/article/...
http://www.globalchange.gov/publications...
8) Angle, by the way, has never studied science. She has a bachelor of arts in fine arts and worked as a substitute teacher for 25 years. She is a Baptist and ran a small Christian school, which means she probably does not believe in evolution either.
9) Angle is supported by the Tea Party Express, which is not surprising. She also is not beyond hiding her true beliefs, when politically expedient. Hence, the sudden changes in her website:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/01...
Bottom line: if you don't believe in science, can't stand evolution, think the elderly should not retire, and want to live in 1929 America--then Sharron Angle is definitely your gal....
Sharron Angle is George W. Bush in a dress...
yo green plant with itchy finger and balls,
Jane Schmidt wrote the article castigating SA for trying to join the govt she spits on. It was funny from out here in the country.
So how, exactly, does Jane Schmidt propose that someone concerned about the government take steps to change it? Is she advocating a Second Amendment solution instead?
Sharron Elaine (Ott) Angle spends $637,000 dollars of donors money on shady firm-Base Conne
Erick Erickson of RedStstes blog said that candidates who use the firm are in danger of losing RedState's endorsement, because conservative donors' money is going to a fundraising agency rather than helping the cause. From 75-95% of the donors money is paid back to Base Connect and it's partners-Century Data Mailing Service and Legacy Lists, Inc..
Is Angle in the kickback scheme now with her donors' contributions?

"Reid has FAILED to help Nevada avoid being the state with the highest percentage budget deficit, and having the highest jobless rate of all other states."
Hmmmm. Since Nevada earns its living primarily from gambling and tourism and since the country has been in the grip of the worst recession since the Great Depression since the economy imploded under Bush--I guess you thought gambling and tourism would go up?
Strange thinking....
"Reid is also part of the scam that has given the USA the highest debt in history"
You can make up any kinds of lies you want, but someone will always be here to correct them. Let me set you straight:
Reagan: tripled the deficit, single handedly transforming the U.S. from a lending nation into a debtor nation
Bush I: doubled the national debt
Clinton: only president since 1980 to balance the budget and begin to pay the national debt down, which would have been paid off by 2009
Bush II: doubled the debt, started two foreign wars, and presided over the biggest implosion of the American economy since 1929.
Obama: forced to deficit spend to bail the nation out and prevent it from sliding into a Great Depression.
What part of that history do you not get?

Has Crazy Angle been asked wheather she believes in evolution or creationism? Having her answer that question could be an eye-opener for many voters.
My guess is she sides with the science-hating, flat earth knuckle-draggers.
Last Throes
39% of Americans believe in evolution
40% do not believe in evolution
And the rest have no opinion
The theory suffers from news clips claiming, for instance, that dinosaurs were the ancestors of birds because there was a dino fossil found that had its head tucked under its "arm" just like a bird tucks its head under its wing...
Now logically, that means that when we find a dinosaur with his head tucked up his *ss, that dino is the ancestor of the darwinist..
Angle who? Angle what? Is Angle a Scientologist or a Southern Baptist? Both? Maybe she alternates from one to the other.
I usually agree with you on a lot of your comments, LastThroes, but this time I can't.
I really think that Sharron Angle believes she came from a stork that flew her in and deposited her in Reno.
Not her problem that it was a dive bomb mission that ended up with her landing on her head.
This remarkable landing perhaps gave her the inclination and "calling" to run for U.S. Senate.
xtra writes:
"Now logically, that means that when we find a dinosaur with his head tucked up his *ss, that dino is the ancestor of the darwinist."
xtra, you should go to sleep now and think twice about coming back. Because you have just identified yourself as belonging to what LastThroes would call one of the "science-hating, flat earth knuckle-draggers."
Which is what Sharron Angle is.
Angle is anti-evolution, anti-global warming, and anti-alternative energy, among other things.
I'd like to have her cranium examined--I suspicion she may not even be a Homo sapiens, because we're much smarter than that.

AP, teachers unions dont like evolution either - when it helps them win politically... http://www.writeonnevada.com/2010/07/dir...
PRG, Did you have Strategic Visions LLC make up that information on your post at 8:04 PM?
When did your association with SV LLC start?
Mr. Gibbons:
The teachers have been teaching theory that has been disproved by recent genetic testing. The Peking Man and Neanderthal have been discredited. In fact, Chinese archeology has proven that Chinese were not in China before 2500 years ago. There were Scythian civilizations there 4500 years ago so the multi point evolution is junk. That has created a crisis in the teaching of evoltion because it became a "quasi-religion (in some sense with its own mythos (clan of the cave bear)
Teachers may be reacting to the recent reassesments and don't want to teach "Your Neanderthal Daddy's" evolution...or teach evolution at all... with "dinosaurs tucking their heads under their arms" type junk science evidence
American Patriot:
I despise junk science and it abounds in "evolution" and "global warming."
As for alternate energy, I use it, I don't talk about it or read "gee whiz, ain't that cool" articles..and believe every word..
Mr. Gibbons:
Correction
Chinese were in China 2500 BC and the Scythians 4500 BC
I wrote 2500 years ago..so I correct it..
I've been reading a book about evolution and Charles Darwin and it's mind blowing to think that this debate was settled by about 1900 in a very religious, sceptical scientific community. Almost every UK biologist who believed in creationism at that time eventually came around to Darwin's point of view because he presented the theory with extensive research, facts and logic.
Yet here we are 110+ years later and flat-earthers still insist on remaining in the dark by denying clear scientific evidence. It's amazing really.
American Patriot:
For your edification, the theory of evolution of humans was multi-point origin and over a long period of time. The Peking or Java Man slowly evolved into the Chinese, the African Apes evolved into Africans and Neanderthal evolved into the Europeans.
Genetic testing proved that Neanderthal is a separate species and the Chinese were not from the area where they would have evolved.
The Chinese are not quite adapted to that latitude based on evidence of Vitamin D.
Modern genetics traced a single point to 150 thousand years ago and one single gene, on or off..switched.
That is not possible..one gene switch makes a human from an ape ancestor..because the gene switch turned off the ability to breed with the ape..
That contradicts much of the theory..and teachers who were believers were suddenly confronted with having to teach what was changing so rapidly that it was hard to teach any coherent theory at all..
So the teachers may not be believing classical evolution so much anymore.
Last Throes:
You are reading about 'settled science" in 1900 and claiming that what was "scientifically" true in 1900 is gospel truth today?
Last Throes:
Start Here:
"recent evidence from mitochondrial DNA studies indicates that Neanderthals were not a subspecies of Homo sapiens"
That is ..not species, not cousins, not lovers, maybe pets or food but not homo sapiens, species or subspecies..
xtra, You have been thoroughly brainwashed by those who use the propaganda techniques of Fascism. They tell lies and keep repeating them over and over in an attempt to brainwash people.
Go to the "Institute for Propaganda Analysis" and see for yourself.
xtra, If there were no evolution everybody would look like clones. Do you look 100% like your father or your mother?
No, you don't because of evolution.
extra.......
There is no such thing as junk science.
There is only science.
Evolution is how we got here, that's science.
xtra has officially moved into 1st place on the nut list, edging out lady gogo.
congrats xtra
xtra,
do you believe in creationism or what?
science believes in the existence of a supreme power as certain manifestations cannot be explained in the laboratory, as yet. anti-matter is one of these concerns as is the virgin mary at fatima and other locations. if you live with a closed mind, you are deluding only yourself.
Shew I have a lot to dispel here with the American Patriot's recitation of the Dem talking points but here goes:
Sharron Angle wants to eliminate social security. That's the first big lie. She has no intention of eliminating social security for those who are at or near retirement age. It's those of us who are 50 or under who realize that the government has sold us out and spent EVERY DIME that was supposed to be saved.
Sharron Angle realizes that the Department of Education has done nothing to advance our education system and in fact in the last fifty years we've lost ground against other industrialized societys (and a few that aren't). The greatest generation in our history mostly went to school BEFORE the Dept. of Ed. came into being and they managed to invent the atom bomb and win a war against the evil nature of the results of socialism.
Sharron Angle doesn't want to abolish Medicare. Her beliefs in that regard are akin to those of social security. It's broke, we should stop living in denial and face facts before it bankrupts our country (I think we're too late here but that's the intention)
Sharron Angle believes that man (generically) has an effect on the enviromnent and we should work in sensible ways to mitigate that phenomenon. But we're the same people that wanted to close the patent office in 1847 because we thought everything was invented and once thought the world was flat. In fact there was a news article that just came out yesterday speaking to the detection of certain types of cosmic rays that can caused focused warming in our enviromnent. To believe man has that much control over the reactions of the universe is well....tantamount to believing the earth is flat.
And I believe your last two comments were just thrown in so you could say you threw the kitchen sink and I've got to cook breakfast now so you'll just have to figure them out yourself.
Willie: My point is that why must we track the BMI of 300 million people to insure 15 million. Wouldn't that money be better spent providing an insurance pool for those like you who are in high risk categories? I'd gladly pay an extra dollar or two a paycheck on my FICA to create a high risk insurance pool for those who just can't get insurance. It's much better to do that than to see our hospitals go broke and reduce services. But explain to me why we have to track the BMI of 300 million people to do it? When you answer that question properly you'll start to understand why we need to vote for Sharron Angle.
bbtbrian........
Angle is out of touch with everything the
average American needs.
Angle is a crazy teabagger who backs rich,
greedy republicans.
Angle wants to PRIVATIZE SOCIAL SECURITY.
THIS WILL DISMANTLE SOCIAL SECURITY.
YOU ARE 100% WRONG.
VOTE HARRY REID.
No teamster, you are wrong. If your precious union was such a good organization why are they begging for 165 billion dollars in pension bailouts from the govt.?
I'll get the last laugh when your pension goes broke. The same thing happened in the 50's to Studebaker and Desoto. If I were you I'd be making sure to save some of your own money and not put all your eggs in the pension basket. If the Teamsters pension fund goes down it'll be taken over by the PBGC. You'll lose your health benefits and if you're luck you'll be collecting 65% of what you're thinking you're going to get.
Go ahead, don't believe me read it from your own website.
http://www.teamster.org/content/ny-times...
To save you time here's a relevant portion:
Partitioning the Teamster plans could ultimately mean some of the union's members, working at shaky companies, could lose part of their benefits. The government insures pensions in case an employer defaults, but its coverage is limited, and the limits for multiemployer pensions are exceptionally low--just $12,900 a year for a worker who is 65 when his or her pension plan fails.
That is well below the $36,000 pension a Teamster now earns by retiring at age 65 after 30 years of service. The government guarantees pensions up to about $44,000 a year when a single-employer plan fails.
Think you can live on 13k retirement? Hee hee..
