The number of passengers traveling through McCarran International Airport fell just above 1 percent in June, the airport said Thursday.

In June 2010, the airport served 3,400,550 arriving and departing passengers, a 1.1 percent drop from June 2009, when the airport had 3,436,939 passengers.

Passenger traffic in the first half of the year was down 3 percent compared to the same period last year, with 19.6 million passengers using the airport from January to June 2010 and 20.2 passengers in the same period of 2009.

Southwest Airlines, the airport’s busiest carrier, served 1,355,442 passengers in June, virtually the same June 2009. So far this year, Southwest has carried 7,707,473 passengers, just a half percent less than the same period last year.

Delta, the second busiest carrier at McCarran, had a 20 increase in passengers, a result of its merger with Northwest.
