Pigeons foul up vents at state agency
Thursday, July 29, 2010 | 9:17 a.m.
CARSON CITY – Pigeons have gotten the best of the state Division of Insurance that oversees a multimillion dollar industry.
For the past month, many of the more than 75 employees at the division offices in Carson City have become sick, complaining of respiratory problems and sore throats.
The governor’s office shut down the office Wednesday. And the state Board of Examiners on Friday will approve an emergency five-year lease at a new location in Carson City for $1.4 million.
More than a month ago, the pigeons were discovered lodged in the ventilation system on Fairview Drive. Chemical sprays failed to resolve the problem. And the heating and air conditioning systems were replaced – to no avail.
The workers will be shifted to other state offices until the new location on East College Parkway is ready on Oct. 1.

karma
You would think that government employees would be used to working in and around various types of waste.
Look closely and you'll see "Sandoval For Governor" written on their wings.
Pigeons, and their cousins doves, are flying poop machines and need to be eradicated. We need access to cheap bird birth control and a bounty program. The Pigeon Whisperer had a great idea.
pigeons aren't a problem on my street anymore thanks to the sale big 5 was having on pellet guns.
