Delta Air Lines will stick its toe in the water on a new route with Saturday-only nonstop flights between Las Vegas and Hartford, Conn., beginning Oct. 2.
Flights will leave Hartford’s Bradley International Airport at 5 p.m., arriving at McCarran International Airport at 7:45 p.m. The return flight leaves McCarran at 11 p.m., arriving in Hartford at 6:47 a.m. the next day.
Delta, the second-busiest carrier at McCarran, will use twin-engine Boeing 737-800 jets on the route.
Delta will compete with Southwest Airlines, which operates a daily round trip on that route.
While Delta, which has 45 daily flights to and from Las Vegas, is only operating the route once a week, airlines commonly begin operations with less frequency and add more flights if seat sales pan out.
Announcement of the Las Vegas route comes on the heels of Delta ceasing operations on a nonstop route between Hartford and Los Angeles on Sept. 30, four months after startup. When those flights cease, Hartford will have no nonstop flights to and from the West Coast.

Good news never has comments. lol
Great news, have all my miles with Delta and would usually have to take a non-stop to JFK to see friends in the New Haven, Ct area. I know Southwest has a non-stop, but I guess I'm in the minority and get irritated with the non-stop fake frivolity of the SW flight attendants. Plus Delta has done a good job of outfitting a large amount of it's fleet with free satellite TV service on the back of the seats which helps immensely on a 5 hour flight.
I have no problems with Delta, used them the last 3 vacations to get to Florida. My travels back to the NorthEast I need to be further up the coast and usually fly into NH to get to Maine so this won't help me but glad to see they are willing to try new routes still.
Jim3535 I'm with you on the SW Airlines situation...I don't fly them due to them not having assigned seats and instead have a 'cattle call' line up when boarding, just not my cup of tea.
Who needs to Fly from Hartford Ct. to Las Vegas ? They only have a forty five minute drive down Rt. 2 East transition from Interstate 84 to Foxwoods Casino Resort Complex for all the action you could ask for!!
