While parts of Las Vegas got some rain this morning, there's only slight chance of more wet and possibly stormy weather through the valley for the rest of the day, according to the National Weather Service.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected across Lincoln County in Nevada and Mohave County in Arizona this afternoon and evening, with only isolated thunderstorms over the rest of southern Nevada, the weather service said.
A significant increase in moisture on Thursday will lead a greater chance of thunderstorms that could produce heavy rain, especially over northwest Arizona, forecasters said. A more stable air mass over southern Nevada will hold down the development of thunderstorms in southern Nevada, but those that do form could bring heavy rain and flash flooding, forecasters said.
Rain showers passed over the northern part of the Las Vegas Valley and the Spring Mountains before 6:15 a.m. today, creating some slick spots on the 215 Beltway and surface streets west of Interstate 15, they said.
Temperatures are expected to be near to slightly below normal through the remainder of the week, forecasters said.
Around the valley just before 2 p.m., temperatures were 99 degrees at McCarran International Airport, 98 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 100 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 98 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.
Temperatures at McCarran are expected to reach a high of 103 degrees today, forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 104 degrees and the record high was 114 degrees, set in 1995 and 1980.
Temperatures are expected to be 102 degrees by 6 p.m., 96 degrees by 9 p.m. and 92 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.
Thursday's morning low will be 85 degrees and Thursday's high will climb to 103 degrees, they said.
At 4:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 89 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 79 degrees. The record low was 61 degrees, set in 1984 and 1941.

I wish it would pour today all over the valley!
Rain, what rain?
Someone tell the guys in the tunnels!
still waiting for that rain. This is suppose to be the second day of thundershowers, last time I checked its 105 degrees, with partly cloudy skies.
