LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Reid puts good of the state and nation first
Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 | 2:02 a.m.
I want to thank Garrison Keillor, regarding his commentary published in Sunday’s Las Vegas Sun, for putting into words what I have been thinking for a long time regarding Harry Reid.
He is a good man who sometimes says something completely off the wall, but his intentions are well-meaning for Nevada and also for our nation. As majority leader of the U.S. Senate, he has to think for the good of the whole country as well as Nevada.
He is quiet, tenacious and honest, and I pray the voters remember these qualities against all the loud, finger-pointing sensationalists who can’t do any better than bringing up remarks said in private. There is no real scandal with Harry Reid, and I sincerely hope the voters see the difference between the “bullies” and this quiet “Clark Kent” who takes his job seriously without any fanfare.
Nevada cannot lose him — he is truly on our side.

That is your and Reid's opinion that he is doing what is best for Nevada and the country.
However, poll after poll after poll shows that majority of the voters disagrees with that opinion and believes what Reid is doing is harmful to the nation and Nevada.
We live in a Democratic Republic and come Nov the voters will vote their opinions.
Also you must have forgotten the land scandals and the his family makes millions in lobbying
fees scandal.
We can only hope harry Reid continues to push Pelosi's left wing agenda. The needs of the elite in San Fransisco and New York City should be his purpose in life. It just assures us a new Senator from Nevada and a new direction for this country come Novemer 2010.. Pink slip for idiots day in America.
Nobody will recognize the Senator in this campiange ad. He does not exist.
In the R-J (11-30-08) Reid said "My standing in Nevada is one where people know I've been a partisan. From now on I'll be able to project a kinder, gentler persona. My role is going to change. I'll be able to return to the person I previously have been." This from a man so ruthless and feared that even Sig Rogich will not cross him. Harry will turn on a friend (like Jon Porter) at the drop of statement of principle by a Republican.
Showing his contempt for the people in the "People's House" Reid's take at the official dedication for the Capitol Visitor Center 12-2-2008, as he quipped that "In the summertime, because the high humidity and how hot it gets here, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol."
Lady You should not lie in your letters. Harry Greid is a corrupt slimy little weasel who's only interest is enriching Harry Gried. He has been on the government dole all his life because he lacked the ability to practice law. He has never done an honest day's work since he left the gas station in searchlight and is now a wealthy man. He did not honestly earn that wealth.
Reid puts what's good for the Democrat party ahead of anything else and the includes the US and Nevada.
This article sends one running for the barf bag. Honest? Harry Reid? Ya gotta be kidding!!
All he cares about is power and Harry Reid. He has used Nevada for his own gain long enough.
Harry is the one who smells.
His intentions are well-meaning only for himself. Worst Senate Majority Leader in U.S. history.
Is wailer Dianne talking about the same Harry who twisted arms and bribed Senators to vote his way?
I am eagerly awaiting the opportunity to cast my vote to rescind the license that Dirty Harry evidently thinks he has to steal and corrupt this great country and our state of Nevada!!!
The best part about this coming election is that we will have a twofer of Reids to vote against in November!
This is double the pleasure I will experience!
Dirty Harry is a corrupt land stealing thief!
Look at what he and his family did to Boulder when he was given a heads-up briefing from the 9/11 Commission that was going to recommend protection of Hoover Dam and other items in our nation!
He and his sons, Rory included invested in the lands around Boulder and bought up all the land at rock bottom prices and waited till the Federal government attempted to buy it and then profited off the massive land deal!
In fact his other son, is the lawyer for this group that Dirty Harry assembled of family and other thieves in the liberal circles of Dirty Harry!
So I would sincerely recommend that this writer seek mental health counseling ASAP as the kool-aid is still contaminating their mind!
Wake up and read and understand what is happening around you. Regretfully this person will probably vote for Reid because they are too damn ignorant to understand the truth and will just think we are simply right wing idiots, when in fact, we speak the truth!
I am voting this year for all the Independent American Party of Nevada candidates on the ballot!
I am also going to do my homework to make sure that the Independents that I vote for are members of the IAP of Nevada as so many demorats are hiding now and trying to use the label Independent to masquerade as so that the voters don't throw their carcasses out!
I am also voting for the Independent American Party candidate for the Clark County Commissioner District F. The individual is a career military man, an ex-immigration official, ex-Federal Inspector General and a small business owner! He is not corrupt and he has been approached as a Federal Contracting Officer but he knew to do so, would not be morally right as he is also a Catholic and goes to church and has a believe in a God! www.ElectAVeteran.org
This is the type of people we need now! Not the corrupt demorats or the sex addicted repubs!
This is a great letter. Ignore the right wing crazies my friend, we need Harry Reid now more than ever.
I hope Harry's supporters are emptying their bank accounts and sending all of their money to Harry. He is going to need it...
Money can't buy you love... err, I mean VOTES...
Tonight there was be an inordinate cloud of gas rising above Washington. That will be the State of the Union speech made by Obama. It will be preceded by more gas by pundits telling us what the President SHOULD say. Then the President will bore the us with his platitudes and "wish I coulds". Then after that the opposition will critique what Obama said, what he didn't say and what he should have said. These people all get paid for this and none of it will feed the bulldog.
Why can't the President just mail it in like he's been doing for the last year?
Larry, I think Harry has enough dough. He'll be ok, unlike some of your fellow posters here, who appear to be terminally rabid.
When I read jlb101's rantings, I get a mental image of a raging loony with big veins popping out of his neck.
HEY! Don't forget to tune in to the big speech tonight!
I am looking forward to hearing from our President.
And then we can hear your fellow posters rage in all it's gory, I mean glory, in tomorrow's SUN.
What's the opening line on how many times Obumo will say "I" tonight?
Dianne: 100% correct.
HARRY REID 2010.
He is incompetent too.
He had 60 votes and could not muster the bill out of the Senate last summer before the Tea Tax Party ruin his day.
He really messed things up!!!!!
Thank God.
Much of this Reid stuff is driven by dirty tricks by certain cable news outlets, Internet sites, and hate-talk radio. I hope there is a complete investigation of the bugging of Mary Landrieu's office by a character that frequently appeared on the Sean Hannity Radio and TV show. The silence from the hate-talk radio element on this major story is to be noted. I hope they go for the maximum jail sentence for all parties if they are found guilty.
mred, EXACTLY.
That punk thinks he's above the laws of the United States. He should do time.
Diane: 100% wrong.
Harry out in 2010.
Harry has done nothing for Nevada. He acts like he was elected by Nebraska or Louisiana with the huge payoffs they got for their senators' votes.
I appreciate Dianne's attempt to see the good in Harry but please do not forget the large amount of bad.
The line on Obama saying "I" is not interesting. Instead, put up a line on how often Obama uses the royal "We". THAT has become one of his signautre comments it seems.
Only the teleprompter knows.
mred- Fox news is the most trusted news program in television. I remember MSNBC twisting the news and excoriating Bush/Cheney for everything that went wrong. They don't do that now do they? I wonder why? Am I to surmise that everything is going swimmingly now? Keith Olberman had a field day for 8 years and now he just reports dog bites and car wrecks.
Public Policy Polling survey shows approval rating of more than 50% for FOX News.
Almost half of all Americans surveyed in the poll of 1,151 registered voters said they trusted Fox News.
CNN News (39%)
ABC News (31%)
CBS News (32%)
NBC News (35%).
Books;
IMO, FOX & MSNBC represent opposite, radical ends of the spectrum and should both be roundly ignored.
Actually, Lar, Fox is both the most trusted AND least trusted;

Dianne, These well meaning intentions are just that, Intentions. I just hope my doctor never has to tell me he had well meaning intentions. Being one of those finger pointing sensationalists you speak of who finds Reid to be a complete failure I ask you, What has Harry done for this state or country as majority leader to make him a superman in your eyes? Who you decribe as a seriously honest and quietly tenacious "Clark Kent" who is truly on my side seems to be more like a self serving sneak who thinks for the good of himself. As for the lack of fanfare, That pretty much speaks for itself.
gmag39-I agree that there is a bit of truth in what you say and just a bit at that.
Chris Matthews almost has an orgasm when speaking of Obama, same with Rachel Maddow and Olberman. they represent the very worst of MSNBC
However, Morning Joe and Mike Brezinski are mostly unbiased. On the other hand Sean Hannity of Fox is a depicable bastard and I can't stand him at all. He is as far right as the Matthews-Olberman-Maddow trio are left.
I find O'Reilly to be what he says he is, fair and balanced. If you don't like what he says you should stick to MSNBC between 4pm and 8pm. If all you want to hear is someone blowing smoke up Obama's skinny azz then you will be comfortable. I, however am just a smidge right of center and I can't stand a kiss-up.
Is that like the new book "Antlers in the tree tops by Who goosed the moose?"
Harry Reid will pass the health care bill.
You greedy republicans will lose again.
