Teachers honored with $25,000 Milken awards

Two Las Vegas teachers were honored with Milken Educator Awards today, the Clark County School District announced.
Mike Patterson of the Advanced Technologies Academy and Jeremy Gregersen of The Meadows School were both surprised at assemblies at their respective schools this morning. The two teachers received cash prizes of $25,000.
The Milken Educator Award recognizes the exceptional work of elementary and secondary education teachers. Fifty-three teachers will be honored with the 2009-2010 award.
The award as established by the Milken Family Foundation Chairman Lowell Milken in 1987, and has since honored more than 2,400 educators with more than $60 million in unrestricted cash awards.
