If you alighted in Carson City this week and didn’t know any better, it could be any session any year any time. Lobbyists jammed the hallways, chatting about how little was going on and charging their clients for every hour they milled around. Lawmakers went through the usual staged public testimony — oh woe is education and human services in Nevada — while privately they negotiated ways to cut human services and education. Public show, private decisions. Thus it has always been and always will be. God, I love Carson City.
