Jasmine Trias: Things I Love

Hawaiian singer-entertainer Jasmine Trias sits down with Las Vegas Magazine writer Kiko Miyasato to talk about what she loves to eat, do and see around Las Vegas. Trias was the third-place finalist on the third season of American Idol, and she's now performing with Hawaii's premier showband The Society of Seven at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Making it into the top three finalists on the third season of American Idol was no easy feat, but singing sensation Jasmine Trias did it.

A native of Hawaii and of Filipino descent, Trias gained legions of fans in her home state and across America and the Far East. In the Philippines, she has become a superstar and was nominated for Favorite Hip Hop and R&B video in the MTV Pilipinas Video Music Awards. Trias currently stars in the Society of Seven variety show at Gold Coast with her Hawaiian counterparts.

She recently sat down with Las Vegas Magazine to discuss her favorite things about Las Vegas.

Sushi: I love any late-night sushi place and I love Naked Fish's (3945 S. Durango Drive) and Kabuki at Town Square Las Vegas.

Shopping: I love going to Town Square to shop — the outdoor atmosphere is great and it's beautiful at night with all the lights. I also like shopping at Fashion Show.

Cirque du Soleil shows: "O" is great and KÀ is so amazing.

Red Rock Resort: It's my favorite. Because I work (near) the Strip I like to get away from it on my time off. It's a gorgeous hotel. I like to watch movies there and hang out at the pool.

XS: When I go out for the night on the Strip, I love to go to that nightclub.

Hiking: I usually hike in Hawaii, but in Vegas there are not as many places to go. But I like to hike at Red Rock Canyon — it's definitely a different experience, but it's a lot of fun.

Blue Man Group: It's such a great show. They actually brought me up onstage to do a little audience participation bit with them — it was so much fun! It was a memorable show for me because I got to be a part of the show.
