Beyond the Sun
Sun Coverage
Sun columnist Jon Ralston is reporting that the Tea Party has qualified as a third party in Nevada and will have a candidate in the Senate race to battle for the seat held by Majority Leader Harry Reid.
The party has filed a Certificate of Existence but needs to get 1 percent of the electorate to vote for its candidate in November to permanently qualify, according to the report.
Ralston reported that Jon Ashjian will be the Tea Party's U.S. Senate candidate on the November ballot. Ashjian still must declare his candidacy.
There are six other third-party candidates going through the verification process to appear on the ballot as U.S. Senate candidates — one Reform Party hopeful and five as independents, Ralston reported.
Reid's Republican challengers currently include former state Sen. Sue Lowden, former UNLV basketball star Danny Tarkanian and former state Assemblywoman Sharron Angle.
The news also comes two days after first-term Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki said he won't run for the U.S. Senate to unseat Reid. Krolicki said Thursday he will be seeking a second term as lieutenant governor.
According to the party's constitution, the Tea Party of Nevada will "promote this nation's founding principles of freedom, liberty and a small representative government. We believe that our government under both Democrat and Republican control has led to massive national debt, crushing deficits, increased taxes; while establishing a large and powerful federal government in a direct refutation of the founding ideals of America."
The Tea Party of Nevada's constitution, bylaws and officers are available here.

HAHAHAHA!
@wizardofOz,
$5 bucks?! You're THAT certain?
Hmmm.... NOT what I am looking for at all in a third party.
Ho hum, another third party candidate who'll get 15% of the vote. When are people going to realize that we have a 2 party system, that's what we'll always have. Ever hear of the Barnburners, the Bullmoose, the America First parties? All a complete waste of time and energy. The Tea Party joke will be the same.
Such foolishness...
Sounds like they have already sold out to the religous right. just like Libertarians, the Tea Party will be owned by right wing christians with a religous agenda. They started with "GOD GIVEN" rights.
Not a good sign.

nick,
our founding fathers did say our rights were from god (as in "god given"). most founding fathers were NOT christians but deists which makes a big difference in your point. the reason our founding fathers stated our rights were from god was because if they were granted to us from the government instead of "god given", then they could be taken away by the government. knowing history is a wonderful thing, see what you can learn !
Milfy, I do not buy into your brain dead dogma. This is not the 1700s and I have no desire to go back. Try and learn to progress.
Keep your religion off my rights.
LMAO, what's next NAMBLA??
It does not appear the Tea Party is very much different than the Libertarian Party. Waste of time and effort and will only create another slew of Politicians.
this is not an advertisement
Green Party expects to get 34% in the Governor race
Great reporting Sun Ralston.
This will probably make National news.
I'm sure a lot of Reid supporters will be donating.
The teabag movement if viewed unfavorably 40%, favorably 35%, by a recent Washington Post Poll.
The nutbar Beckbrains are starting to implode, I'll take that $5 bet too.
I wonder if Kroklicke will flip flop at the last minute and change his mind?
Mauriello, I would note that a true Libertarian undoubtedly would have found Tom Tancredo's address to the Tea Party convention to have been the racist, xenophobic ramblings of a sick mind, and Sarah Palin to have been an embarrassment. But I could be wrong, of course. My exposure to libertarianism here tend to be R-J editorials, which are not libertarian, just hateful and dishonest.
This will be a riot when Harry and his Republican opponent get beaten by the Tea Party candidate.
If nothing else, maybe some of our Liberal friends will learn how to spell "Tea Party."
oh yeah...lets re elect Harry Reid since thats working so nice for us
Maybe the tea baggers will take republican votes since they all seem to be one group. Dangerous move for them...
The Teabags are in DA Nile, which is not a river in Egypt. They actually think these Palinites can win something?? Palin, 71% think she's unqualified.
I bet the arrogant self-important loco-local talk radio blowhards will give little if any attention to these nuts either. They sure treated Whiley like garbage out at the station where the bossy manager always butts in.
I am writing a check to these kooks asap.
Based on what I know and what I've heard, there's no way I'd vote for a Tea Party candidate. That said, I'm all for weakening the two party system. I'd much rather have ALL independent candidates that don't feel they have to support an issue simply because their party tells them to do so.
Ideally, we'd have candidates that are HONESTLY running because they want to improve the area that they represent, but the reality is that every realistic political candidate is simply drunk on greed and power, and they'll sell their soul to the highest bidder.
I am hosting a huge nude in for Dirty Harry, with complentary all you can handle buffet. Clothing optional, a vote for Harry is a vote for corruption! Vote Harry!
Green. Fringe Party's such as the libertarians and Tea Baggers only serve to siphon off votes from the Republican Party and will undoubtedly help "Dirty Harry" to be re-elected.
I skimmed through the Bylaws. Didn't see any pro-life BS in there, so this looks okay. I don't see the difference between this and the libertarian platform though.
One this is certain, both the repugnicants and the Democraps need to be dumped in the deepest part of the ocean.
Green Party is going to take the Governors job. It is on.
We are going to convert the Mansion into a work live space. Rip off those Neo Classical BS columns.
If the tea party wins Congress and The White House, you'll be betting more than $5 bucks. You'll be betting your Medicare, your social security, your country. But, hey, what do you care? You got your gun...
In democracies, they have majority rule. Maybe we should try that here, too, before we turn the government over to a pitbull with lipstick? Just a thought...
Smells like Harry is up to his old dirty tricks again.
I fully expected stuff liks this and this is minor compare to the other crap is going to try to pull off.
Republicans should expect black flag warfare and should be prepared to fight fire with fire.
The "Tea Party"? Palin, right? We're better off if the first guy/gal found sleeping behind the dumpster is the opposition candidate. Probably a little more common sense, and at least they'll have access to a shower.
I read the Tea Party document referenced above, and note that the first page lists "Barry Levinson" as Secretary, and "Kiana Hayden" as an At-Large Member; however, the eighth and last page has the signature of "Kianna Hayden" over "Secretary." Not exactly a smoking gun, but I think it's an interesting indicator of their collective attention span.
Not single officer has ever given money to any candidate before.
Curious......I smell a rat....a Harry Reid rat.
Any third party claiming the mantle of conservatism should be considered a stealth pro-Marxism effort. In other words, this "tea party" is the enemy of conservatism.
Only one path to conservative electoral success exists in the United States: taking over the Republican Party and throwing out the mushy, mumbling "cenrists" who stand for nothing.
A third party of this sort means socialism wins. The only possible result is splitting the vote.
Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave.
"Curious......I smell a rat"
Or, it might be time for a new pair of Odor-Eaters.
Reagan was a Democrat Union Boss, who signed a liberal abortion bill as CA governor and took guns away from people with the Brady and other anti-gun legislation. After the Marine Barracks was bombed in Lebanon he cut and run from the area. He backed Saddam in the Iran-Iraq War, and supported Fundamentalist Islamics in Afghanistan including Bin Laden.
RIP Reagan. Oh and Scott Brown and some of the other "Republicans" that have been elected recently are moderates, the conservative in upstate NY is the guy who lost, thanks to the teabag nuts. Looks like we will see the same thing in the Reid race. Too bad Baggers your goose is cooked.
Reid will win.
MRED: Gawd you're stupid.
Washington Post: 'In 1993 President Clinton signed into law the "Brady Bill," which mandated a waiting period and background check on handgun purchases.'
Everything you said is a fable.
You want money in Nevada, it's easy, have you been to any and I mean any casino in Vegas lately. If you hven't and if you can remember when or if you ever did, you at least won a little or played awhile before losing it all. Now, it's simple, the company's who own the casino's are so greedy, they capitilize on poor economic conditions. not from locals are Calif. but the last time I was downtown (strip) I thought i just got off a plane in Japan, China or mexico. but wait, what do the Casino's pay in taxes, does anyone really know. They sure have enough profit to built billion dollar buildings, Well, wake up, the machines are set so low, they can't pay out, so where does all the profit go, back in taxes, yea right, into corporate wallets. Nevada residents need to stand up, put a tax on these Casino's, We live here, the CEO doesn't, were better off for those taxes going to the loss of Education and other needy avenues here in Nevada vs into some CEO's wallet living off a yacht in some mediteranian sea.
Ronald Reagan served as president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1947 to 1952 and again from 1959 to 1960. He switched his registration from Democrat to Republican in 1962, at age 51. Early in 1967, Democratic California state senator Anthony Beilenson introduced the "Therapeutic Abortion Act", in an effort to reduce the number of "back-room abortions" performed in California. The State Legislature sent the bill to Reagan's desk where, after many days of indecision, he signed it. About two million abortions would be performed as a result, mostly because of a provision in the bill allowing abortions for the well-being of the mother.
Facts is facts, Bugsy.
The Tea Party Movement has the right ideas; i.e. Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government (small government), Free Markets and States Rights--and I might add Term Limits and no Benefits For Life for Members of Congress; unfortunately the Tea Party does not have the apparatus, or big party machinery, that the Republicans have, which is absolutely necessary in order to get a candidate elected. Unless the Republicans and the Tea Party (and all the other conservative groups) can come together in an alliance that will support conservative ideas and candidates, then "woe is me" (we) because the Nanny State Democrats will again place their Big Government, control freak, Socialist Diktator, Harry Reid back in office, as well as other Democrats who are in the process of ruining these United States. I implore the leaders of the Nevada Republican Party and Nevada Tea Party to come together and run a campaign to elect conservative candidates satisfactory to both groups. Having the Democrats back in office is just too sad to contemplate.
A vote for the Tea Party is a vote for Harry Reid. If we start running these 3rd party candidates, they will split the republican vote and guarantee democrat re-election. Remember - Ross Perot gave us 2 terms of Clinton (who never won 50% of the popular vote).
We need half a dozen parties. The dems and reps are alike - usually old guys or gals who have hardening of the arteries. Ok, good luck tea party.
RevTomPerl - - "The dems and reps are alike" - - have you seen some of the votes in congress and the senate lately?? The parties could not be more different. Nearly 100% of dems vote for Cap & Trade, Gov't Healthcare, Stimulus, etc; while nearly 100% of republicans vote against this junk. How are both parties alike?
Both parties have corruption problems which is common for government since the beginning of time.
The bigger the government is the more corruption it invites. More power equals more money which means more corruption.
The teabagger morons are the dumbest thing that
the GOP ever came up with, the only exception
being george bush.
I think our two-party system has ruined this county. It might have worked many years ago, serving a good purpose, as it maintained a "checks and balance" system for our leaders. Today, its nothing but a competition of who can stomp out the other party first. It does nothing but stir hatred and dissension amongst the people. People, today will blindly follow a politician, who they know to be corrupt, weak, or just plain stupid, because he belongs to the same party that they're members of. I have long given up on the party that I have affiliated with for most of my life because I find the politicians just as shallow as the ones from the opposite side. The very last thing this country needs is another political party on the rise. UNITED, WE STAND . . . DIVIDED, WE FALL.
"Tea Party to field candidate in battle for Harry Reid's Senate seat"
You STILL don't get it!
It is NOT Reid's Senate seat - it's the PEOPLE'S!
I think teenster and his union goons are the dumbest party ever in this country.Ever tried to talk to a unionm member bout politics? All the say is democratric party good, republicans bad. Guess what teenster met more union people that are fed up with the dems and would like to go with anybosy else other than the dems. Put that in your crack pipe and smoke it. Your tying bout Bush and the Rwpubs, give it a break idiot, oh ya teenster, I belong to a union and the union I belong to does not support your theory, matter of , they laugh at you posts!
As usual, they won't let us know who wrote this article.
This page has some of the funniest comments on the Sun's website, ever.
The tea party fan club keeps telling us about how powerful and independent they are... but when they finally see a candidate get in the race, they start screeching and clutching their pearls about how this guy is unknown.
Why? Because they know that a tea party candidate will ONLY siphon a significant number of republican voters in the general.
Thus, the nutty conspiracy theories about this being Harry Reid's evil master plan!
I like the cross arguments, though. On one hand, the fan club keeps telling everyone about how powerful and popular it is. On the other, you have republicans crying that the tea party isn't playing nice and letting Sue "Yucca is our friend!" Lowden or that coach's son take an easy road to the general.
As we've known all this time, the tea party will only serve to fracture the base of the republican party.
Reagan supported the Brady Bill, his son talk show host Michael Reagun said so.
He also signed a Bill to ban new machine gun sale to individuals (which are not used in any crimes to speek of) around 1983.
As Governor of California he also signed a bill restricting open carry (after some Black Panthers marched with guns.)
Your freind Hannity is a light weight, who doesn't have the facts on Reagan or anything else. He just has a button to push when someone pins him down on the facts he doesn't have.
Learn to think for yourself teabagees.
Hey Burrittobandit2, Which comedy club are you failing your performance at these days,'cause you're sure not going to survive through the act you've got started here on this post today!
There's a sucker born every minute in America, and now they've formed a party; the Tea Party.
Medicare IS government health care... death panels and rationing... the private insurance companies have them already... use them every day... people are denied care daily... the private insurance companies collect as much as possible, and pay out as little as possible... and their profits soar... "claim denied", "not covered", "experimental", "pre-existing", "you failed to disclose", "rescinded"... But FACTS don't matter to tea baggers. They're just hot air, mad as hell, the lunatic fringe of America.
bugsmetons says,
"mred, Gawd you're stupid."
And you sound like a 5 year-old.
Teamster...
Quit the name calling or I won't send you a Valentine Card...
Las Vegas Sun,
I've got a feeling David Curtis was probably advertising his own campaign. If so, and given the fact that this is a forum you've created to be public and given the fact that you yourself endorse political candidates I feel it is wrong, if not hypocritical to squelch free speech on your own open forum.
I may disagree with him politically, but you should not take away his ability to spread his own message freely (maybe you're doing this because he didn't want to buy an ad in your newspaper, I don't know). It just seems a bit hypocritical you will freely advertise politicians but remove notes and links to others, especially third party candidates.
I really wish some of the Democrats here would stop using the word "teabagger." I mean, I understand that many of you are somewhat effeminate (you are liberals after all) and you also probably have some experience with the practice of placing another man's junk in your mouth, but many of us just find the term offensive. It diminishes you when you use your own erotic fantasies to insult others. So, please stop it. You're welcome.
It is your newspaper, and you can do what you want, but this does make you look like a hypocrite (if you did indeed remove Mr. Curtis' link to his own campaign).

The officers of the "Tea Party" have never given one penny to any candidate.
They are totally unknown.
Hmmmmmmm.......smells like Reid is in town doing his dirty tricks again.
Expect more games like this from Reid.
His shadow campaign is going to throw so much personal mud at the Republican that water boarding will be seen as an act of kindness.
I believe our #1 objective is to fire Harry "Backdoor" Reid. With that said, sorry Harry, I'm sure you are smiling that votes will be split to save your miserable butt but, not going to happen. We're voting with the Republican candidate in solidarity to kicking you out of office!
Citizens Against Government Waste Names Rep. Barney Frank 2009 Porker of the Year.
Sen. Ben Nelson is CAGW's January 2009 Porker of the Month.
Thanks to the tea baggers' successful campaign against health care reform, the private health insurers felt confident enough to suggest raising rates in California by 39%....and more to come,
thanks to the Tea Party!

Sarah Palin... fiscally conservative? NEVER!... supported TARP during the campaign... rejected only a 3 percent of stimulus dollars, overruled by the Alaskan Legislature, which grabbed every dollar.... hired lobbyists to pursue earmarks while serving as mayor of the town of Wasilla... defended Alaska's "bridge to nowhere" until she flip-flopped...
NO 3RD PARTY! NO 3RD PARTY! NO 3RD PARTY!
Tea Party Independent Activists support incumbents and candidates who stand against all kinds of tyranny: fiscal, social, cultural. Stop the tyrants! Stop the group-think!
Republicans and Democrats are in our sights.
Tea Party Independent Activists stand for Liberty.
Incumbents and candidates who will not speak plainly and stand tall need not apply.
As a Tea Party Independent Activist from your computer you can gather information about incumbents and new candidates. From your computer you can support worthy candidates with your money and your time. You need NOT be registered with any political party. Tea Party is not a political party. It is a movement of people who love Liberty.

That means we will have more taxpayer funded bail outs in the future of Wall Street fat cats that bet wrong. Thanks to the "fiscally conservative" Republicans.

The Tea Party only worked in Massachusetts because they were fighting a wrong, and were seeking to right that wrong. Todays Tea Party is just an excuse for some idiots to have a party and totally ignore the consequences of their actions. This one will FAIL! Completely.
I think that a lot of people join simply because they have no life, or just are followers. Using their brains, and giving a little thought to what needs to accomplished to get us out of the mess we are in is beyond them, and they would rather let someone else do it for them. Then when they realize just what it is they have done, they will join another group & try to do it again, and again, and never get it right. Why? Because it is easier to follow, than lead. Woe are we.
Here's your death panel, Sarah Palin!

...and the madness continues, thanks to the Tea Party.
I think a third party would possibly create some honesty to a race. Here where the dems and repubs have been seesawing back and forth with domination of their partys' majority for leadership, the same businesses are gaining because each party is catering to the same businesses. These businesses are donating to both parties so they are covered either way. If a third party can stop these donations from swaying their decisions they could rule. Sad thing is greed conquers all and if a politition lasts longer than one term he's bought out.
2 terms max. and even thats questionable.
Hey Sid...
You are really spinning out of control.
Blue Cross California was the ONE company to raise rates on their individual plans 39% due to severe losses in this group. An audit of this group showed heavy claims within a few months of the inception of the policy. So do you see the picture that people are buying insurance because they know that they are going in for treatment.
Sid, since you got this wrong, your integrity is at zero (0).
Oh, by the way there Sid, Individual plans in California amount to approximately 10% of their total insurance.
Keep up the gloom and doom and you can move into the White House with your fearless leader, but you are still not going to get FREE health insurance...
"Sid, since you got this wrong, your integrity is at zero (0)."
Actually, Sid got that 100% correct, and your spin leaves your integrity at zero (0), as usual, Larry.
"Oh, by the way there Sid, Individual plans in California amount to approximately 10% of their total insurance."
Which is, what, almost four MILLION people in one state alone?
Nope, Larry says, "No problem here! Move along! Nothing to see!"
Larry crowed about how he pays his premiums while being a willing slave to the insurance industry a few days ago. The insurance industry preys on the gullible people who pay their premiums without asking questions.
Larry gets what he deserves.
"With that said, sorry Harry, I'm sure you are smiling that votes will be split to save your miserable butt but, not going to happen. We're voting with the Republican candidate in solidarity to kicking you out of office!"
Like we have said all along, the tea party was nothing more than a sad attempt to stir rage and racism among the republican party's base.
And, like good puppies who sit when commanded, all that rage and racism is going right back into the GOP, just like Palin commanded them to do.
So much for all that talk about the Tea Party being independent. They're going right back into the fold to elect some more borrow and spend republicans.
Its funny to see all the rage from the right in this thread, yet I didn't see one you smart enough to suggest Preferential Voting as the solution to break up the two party system.
It needs to happen - people think of politics like its a football game. In order for my team to win, the other has to lose. Thats why I thought McCain's "Country First" slogan was a bunch of horse-****.
Its even been said by several right wing authors, pundits, hosts and even the rank-and-file that their goal is to piss off the left wing.
Newsflash: if your goal in life is to make other people angry or miserable, your existence is pathetic and we'd be better off without you.
I hope the teabaggers manage to place a candidate into the mix. A teabagger candidate has no chance of winning. He/She will split the Republican vote. I won't nbe surprised if we find out after the election that the Dems give the teabagger candidate the votes needed to become a permanent candidate, just like Perot did in 1992.
The leader of the teabagger party is Sarah
"Hand Jive" Palin.
If an ethics violater and gold digger are the
best they can come up with, they are doomed.
Obama: worst President in the history of the U.S. It only took him one year.
Reid: worst Majority Leader in U.S. history.
Teddy and Murtha are dead and Dodd is retiring. Who's left, Barney Frank and Nancy Musolini? The Femocrats can't even field a decent softball team.
Obama: best president.
Reid: best Majority Leader.
republicans: party of GREEDY CROOKS.
Ksand00 needs to take some reading comprehension classes, he is really a "slow learner...
I wrote that Blue Cross of California Individual plans in California amount to approximately 10% of Blue Cross's total insurance.
Ksand00 comes back with: "Which is, what, almost four MILLION people in one state alone?"
Dah.... California has a total population of 38 million or for ksand00 sake lets say 40 million.
Now stay with me there ksand00. 10% of 40 million is 4 million. Right???
Are you still with me there ksand00? Blue Cross of California does not have everyone in California insured.
There are other health care insurance providers in California. GOT IT?
Integrity? Credibility? Truthfulness?
Never heard of them... says ksand00...
Boy our boy ksand00 is not too bright and yet he is in business for himself, or is that by himself?
Yes, I stated that there are nearly four million people in California on individual insurance.
You stipulated that.
Next time, try to impugn my credibility with something you haven't stipulated, genius.
ksand00 still does not get it. Let me try again.
10% of Blue Cross of California's customers are individual plans.
Based on latest figures, Blue Cross of California has a total of about 7 million California customers. So 10% of 7 million is about 700 thousand.
And ksand00 is in business for himself? I hope there's not very more like him out there. No wonder so many are failing...
Good some of the Tea Potty gang have brains, but I worry about these folks running for office with NO experience.
Bad enough GOP don't care who they run as long as the person does what he/she is told and even worse if we get another idiot like Palin
Or even more worse is another Gov named Gibbons
Let me just shut up I am making myself sick, what day will President Obama be hear?
Hey larry, the topic here is your teabagger
party. Did you forget?
The candidate's name is Jon S. Ashjian, also known as Scott Ashjian. Google Scott Ashjian. He has been involved in the asphalt business and the energy drink business, among others. According to lasvegas.blockshopper.com, he lives on Fire Mountain Circle in L.V.
So apparently this is not a communist plot by Reid as some have suggested.
"teabagger" there teamster?
How low can you go???
The teabaggers are against health care reform.
How low can THEY go?
"10% of Blue Cross of California's customers are individual plans."
Correct, you stipluated this earlier. I reiterated it. Around 4 million.
I'm glad you realize you misunderstood my post and impugned my credibility for no reason. I accept your apology.
Apparently Jon Scott Ashjian buys and sells Las Vegas residences--six since 2002.
http://lasvegas.blockshopper.com/search?...
2002--Fire Mountain Circle ($610,000)
2003--Setting Sun (n/a)
2005--Buffalo Dr. ($136,000 condo)
2007--2 houses on Balsam St. ($360,000 and $400,000)
2008--Red Coach Ave. ($668,000)
I never knew Democrats and progressives could be so homophobic...
Given your employment history and politics, you're not trying to convince us that Dems and progressives are somehow MORE homophobic than republicans, right Pat?
The republican party has long relied on hatred of homosexuals to propel their base to the polls.
People get a life! The problem in Congress isn't about liberals, conservatives, democrats or republicans. It all about moneyed influence driving public policy for business at the publics expense. Of which, liberals, conservatives, democrats or republicans all have their hands in the pot. Simply replacing them all with new faces won't resolve the issue - they still be tempted to fill their pockets with whatever money crosses their path. If you're really serious about reforming Congress ... follow the money and turn off the spigots.
Seems to me like the republicans have created a monster that may cost them an election or two.
As a Republican AND a tea party participant, I feel that a tea party candidate only takes votes away from the republicans who MUST win in the elections to get rid of Dirty Harry. Although we're still hoping he bails out at the end and retires. Either way, Reid has got to go along with all his cohorts!
Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh will not seek re-election this year and the hopes are that he will announce that he will run for President.
Go Liberals...
I read a lot on here about how the tea party candidate will take republican votes.
This must be coming from worried republicans. And you should be worried. What you fail to understand is that you too are part of the problem.
The Tea Party movement is about real people. True fiscal conservatives. Democrats are not that. Republicans are not that.
The real concern should not be about a Tea Party candidate taking votes from a republican, but a republican taking votes from the Tea Party.
I'm sorry fellas, but you are not a true fiscal conservative if you support republicans. Please stop lying to yourself.
Democrats say they are for big government and then vote for it. Republicans say they are for fiscal discipline and smaller government, then vote to increase spending and grow government.
Both are part of the problem.
When you are ready to fight for what you say you believe in, we are ready to accept you with open arms.
Welcome to the Tea Party.
The Tea Party is a coming and the Democrats are a running...
Here are some info about Jon Scott Ashjian, the "Tea Party" probably aka Reid's phony 3rd party candidate.
He has connections with Brittain Ashjian for both are listed on each others LLC's docs with the state.
They have listings for over LLC's with the some of following names:
Bada-Bling, LLC
W.I.T. Bro, LLC AKA AA Paving.
24/Construction, LLC
W.S.C.I. LLC
Two Amigos, LLC
Cajun Express, LLC
Squidman, LLC
The 1720, LLC
Tnt Energy Products, LLC
RNC Properties, LLC
Almost all of the LLC's have various Registerted agents or officers with address of 4485 N. RAINBOW, Las Vegas.
Oh here is a biggee.
A lot of the officers of the "Tax Party" are officers or resident agents of his various LLC's.
The teabaggers are coming and the Democrats
are laughing.
Hey teamster, it's "Tea Party" not "teabaggers." If you continue to use vulgar language on this site, I will recommend that you lose your "union membership card" and you will be completely lost having to think for yourself...
In my opinion, Tea Party is making a big mistake by supporting Jon Ashjian as a candidate...
This uphill undertaking will be easier to digest without candidate that has Armenian sounding last name...
Have we really ran out of eligible good old red, white and blue Americans?
Just for the record, I am a foreigner and I really would like to see Tea Party unseat Harry Reid. I just don't see it happening with the candidate named Ashjian!
I hope they reconsider, fight & win!!!
Robin_Hood: "I am a foreigner and I really would like to see Tea Party unseat Harry Reid. I just don't see it happening with the candidate named Ashjian!"
I dunno about that. We managed to elect a President named Barack Hussein Obama, and it wasn't even close.
Hey dipper... I don't know John Ashcan, nor do I know anything about him.
Just because someone is running on the Tea Party ticket does not mean that I will vote for them just because of the Tea Party. I vote for the person, so this guy better be good.
Maalox in every pot... That's good. How long did it take for you to think that one up???
"In my opinion, Tea Party is making a big mistake by supporting Jon Ashjian as a candidate"
The Tea Party did not pick Jon Ashjian.
The people that signed that document to the state are officers and resident agents of the various LLC the he owns.
They are basically close friends of his.
Jon Ashjian basically filed this document for himself.
I am not sure why he did this. Did Reid or someone close to Reid ask him to? Or is this just a stunt by Ashjian?
There is no such thing as the Nevada Tea Party where even a hundred or even 20 people belong to.
The Tea Party is not an organization. It is loose knit of people.
I doubt that Ashjian has ever gone to a Tea Party protest.
LarryVegas,
I know Jon Scott Ashjian, not personally but I've had some dealings with him over the phone.
In my opinion he is less than straight-up businessman...
Try to get some opinions on his business ethics... eye opener...
Just look at all the businesses, properties etc. follow the links to come up with your own conclusion...
I believe that both the Democrats & Republicans need to be put out to pasture and the Tea Party may be our best chance...
Having said all this, I wish someone could quickly dismiss Ashjian claims as a stupid unofficial stunt, before the Tea Party gets damaged by his reputation...
Hey Jon Scott Ashjian... remember me????
Karma is a mother and your day of reckoning has arrived!!!
This stunt has Greasy Harry Reid's scent all over it. Why doesn't this newspaper do a better job of vetting obviously slanted or bogus stories?
What a silly question!!!
dipper... I always wanted to be a "straight up business man..."

ksand99 is endorsing Jon Scott Ashjian for Senate.
Need any further proof that either Ashjian is a Reid stooge or a stunt or a goof.
You really don't read anything, do you jfNance32?
Err, James F Nance, Jr.
Err, SgtRock.
I never endorsed anyone, certainly not someone who I've never seen or read their policy positions. Would you kindly point out how you came to that conclusion? You know, point out a way you came to that conclusion that doesn't infer rampant drug abuse?
Why isn't someone stepping in to run in a primary against Ashjian? Why don't you step up?
Why? Because you know, just as well as I, that the teabaggers were NEVER about an actual third party, but were always pawns of the republican party.
It's taken you this long to see the truth.
C'mon Tea party, don't pick this guy, Hell I'll run for your party . Im just a good ole Workin man who's tired of all the crooked politicians. This guy won't get any votes simply because of his last name, everyone hates Obama and they dont want a name in there that even sounds like arab.
Oh....now you are flipping your position....which is very common.
Earlier you say that Ahsjain represents "teabagger" principles and "teabaggers" should stand behind him.
Now you say you have no freaking clue what are his policy positions and yet you expect others to follow him.
Thanks for comfirming you are just talking out of your butt like you usually do.
A normal person (Yea I know you ain't one) will clearly see that Ahsjain is most likley a goof or a Reid dirty trick.
His "party" consists of his closest friends who are listed on the letter to the Sec. of State and who many happen also to be listed on many of his LLC filings with the state too and at least two of the people listed think George Bush planned and carried out 9/11.
Want to talk about princples.....
How can any koolaid blooded lib ever vote for Reid who released a letter to the public where he tells a citizen that he fully supports the Nevada Consitutional Ban on Gay Marriage and also he voted for DOMA.
According to koolaid lib logic...he is a bigot.
Why are you supporting a bigot?
What a load of BS! I have never even heard of Jon Ashjian. So just who "appointed" him to run as the Tea Party candidate?
For those of you that keep pointing your fingers at others and saying it's "it's the Reps" or "it's the Dems" you better take your head out of the sand and look around. It isn't just one party doing it, it's BOTH and you are being played into politics rather than being Americans. You are watching your country go to Hell in a handbasket and you are allowing it to happen. As for the Tea Party being a pawn of the Republican Party, might I suggest you take a look at the CCRP and see who the members are and how the Tea Party has taken over the CCRP. So who are the pawns? However I will agree that the Tea Party isn't about a third party, it never was. It's about taking our country back from politicians and giving it back to the people of this great Country.
I also might add that I googled Jon Ashjian and the very first site to come up was twitter.com/RalstonFlash. I find that amazing and very informative.
It smells like Harry Reids bunch of Teabagging Merry Men camp at work to me.
You tell them lasvegaslady. Come November, both political parties will be made aware of the power of the people as politicians are replaced across the country by elected officials who will listen to the voters instead of catering to their parties...
"Earlier you say that Ahsjain represents "teabagger" principles and "teabaggers" should stand behind him."
Whoops, never said a single word about "principles," SgtRock. Try again.
"Now you say you have no freaking clue what are his policy positions and yet you expect others to follow him."
No, that's not what I said. I said they won't follow him REGARDLESS of principles, because their end goal was ALWAYS the same: elect republicans.
"Thanks for comfirming you are just talking out of your butt like you usually do."
Talking out of my "butt?" Big words, little man...
The point I made, which you hilariously misread and got all tangential on, was that this exposes the ACTUAL tea party followers as pawns of the republican party. Now that the tea party has taken steps to be taken seriously (aka, they have a candidate), suddenly the people crowing about the tea party around this place (you, Larry, etc.) are doing your best to undermine him and question his credibility.
You know NOTHING about him, other than that his friends are listed on a sheet of paper... and you use that to impugn his credibility. You know who ELSE would do that? The RNC. Congrats, you, again, are just a TOOL of the RNC.
You're working against a third party and for the establishment republicans. YOU ARE SO INDEPENDENT!
"I said they won't follow him REGARDLESS of principles, because their end goal was ALWAYS the same: elect republicans."
Opps...my bad...I forgot that you are God and can predict the future.
Can you also tell me who will win next year's Super Bowl while you are at it?
Like I said, so far his "party" consists of his 8 or so friends of which two think Bush orchestrated 9/11.
Go vote for that bigot (according to lib logic) Reid (you know the one who support Nevada's Constitutional Ban on Gay Marriage).
Talk about a hypocrite.
You are whining about what might happen in the future.
But you...yourself...are guilty of the exact same thing.
You should be voting for the Green Party candidate.
Are you going to follow your principles and vote for the Green Party candidate or you just going to elect Democrats even ones that support Nevada's Gay Ban on Marriage...you hypocrite.
Hey, don't get made at me there ksand00. I did not undermine anyone except maybe you, but that is my job you know.
By the way, ksand00, what did you write to earn the prestigious:
"Comment removed by staff. Comment contained name-calling."
Like I said many times before. I vote for the person, not the party...
"Opps...my bad...I forgot that you are God and can predict the future."
Wow, wrong AGAIN. I didn't predict the future, SgtRock, my comment was about MOTIVES, not OUTCOME. You fail reading comprehension, again.
"Like I said, so far his "party" consists of his 8 or so friends of which two think Bush orchestrated 9/11."
Yes, the teabaggers are big fans of conspiracy theories. Birfers, Transcripters, Trufers... did you know that the tea party convention PAID a man to give a speech recommending a racists test for voting? And they cheered for him. Creepy!
"But you...yourself...are guilty of the exact same thing."
WRONG again, buddy! I've never tried to sell the Green party as some great grassroots movement. I like the Democratic party platform, have supported Democrats, etc. How in the world would it be hypocritical for me to vote for a Democrat?
As for the ban on gay marriage? Let me let you in on a little secret: Reid is running for the SENATE. Senator Reid has NOTHING to do with local laws. Those are passed by legislators.
Furthermore, in his capacity as a Senator, he voted AGAINST the Federal Marriage Amendment. Reid's actions have a direct consequence: if the constitutional ban on marriage in Nevada was overturned, there is no federal law to prevent marriage... thanks to Reid.
What IS hypocritical, however, is praising the tea party as some great grassroots movement and then undermining it when they try to get someone elected.
What IS hypocritical is whining about politicians who hold party above their principles and then voting for someone like Sue Lowden, a sock puppet for the GOP.
What IS hypocritical is whining about wasteful spending and then electing people who are part of the problem.
"Like I said many times before. I vote for the person, not the party..."
I know, but you need to be aware that just because you tell yourself it's true, doesn't make it so.
Stop living in denial, Larry.
"Senator Reid has NOTHING to do with local laws. Those are passed by legislators."
Reid voted for DOMA which is federal legislation. And he supported the Nevada Constitutional Ban on Gay Marriage.
According to lib koolaid logic, Reid is a bigot.
If libs have any principles then they will vote for the Green Party candidate.
"needs to get 1 percent of the electorate to vote for its candidate "
- Mark Szczygiel
ksand00 is sounding more like the Goose Commander every day...
The Tea Party candidates will get nowhere in this country with leaders like Palin and Dick Armey in control. More and more, it will become apparent to the American people that this is a fringe John Birch-like group of racists who are pissed that a black man was elected president. Most Americans are moderates, and don't like extremists on the left or the right. By election day their number of supporters will dwindle.
I personally know this guy and he is running in honor of his father John Ashjian Sr.. His father was the founder of the Juvenile hall in Fresno, CA and he was the best probation officer the County of Fresno has ever seen
The guy sells asphalt and power drinks. Is he a gypsy or an Armenian?
I'll bet dolars to donuts that Greasy Harry is behind this scheme.
The teabaggers are a joke and truly frightening
Laughing and crying at the same time. That's our Liberal friends all right...
How can the Sons of Liberty (Teapatriots) be funny and scary at the same time? People with bipolar disorders should be compliant with their medication regimens.
That is ridiculous to say the Tea Party is scary. That is just a 'catch phrase' for Liberals to disparage them. However, running a third candidate is PURE FOLLY. We just as well say "congrats on your next six years Mr. Reid". Devastating news, as far as I am concerned.
And I thought watching the Rep. candidates for Gov in my state tear each other up was a dumb move. Nevada has all others beat.

We need third party candidates.

Scott Asjian and Barry Levinson, candidate and creator of the Tea Party of Nevada Party (Tea Party Squared) have never been active in any Nevada grass roots tea party event, discussion list, bulletin board, planning session or barbecue (we do a lot of cook-outs to meet candidates and get to know each other a bit better). Not one. And I think I ought to know.
In addition to my role with the Grass Roots team that electorally took over the Clark County (Las Vegas) Nevada Republican Party, I have been active in promoting every grass roots tea party event in Clark County, in five different counter-protests aimed at "participating" in MoveOn labor-union-staffed "rallies", and in no less than nine discussion lists, ning groups, meet-ups and bulletin boards. I'm also a member of Oath Keepers. In short, I'm well-connected in the grass roots tea party movement in Nevada.
Nobody in the tea party movement has come forward to admit they knew either one of them.
Back to Tea Party Squared. This group is a false flag operation - and when their lack of connection to the real tea party movement becomes known among the tea party members, their "support" will evaporate.
In short, this "Tea Party Squared" group is a false flag operation, tied in the past to Harry Reid and with no connection whatsoever with the authentic grass roots tea party movement in Nevada. They will not hand the election to Harry Reid, no matter how much he hopes they will. It's the desperate last act of a man who is close enough to read the writing on the wall, the words that say, "it's time to retire, Harry."

Jerry Springer uses TeaBagger meetings in SC as Casting Calls. Yes it's true! Springer Productions has a contract with South Carolina. The proof is in the details; Section; 4 Par; 3 Letter of intent Mark Sanford Governor and Springer Production Burbank, CA. Harris Weintraub, Esq. January 5, 2004 If SC continue to keep general population IQ results below 80 as has been traditional levels since the Civil War Jerry will continue to use SC citizen exclusively for his syndicated TV show.
Look it up!
The Republican party was a third party and Lincoln was the first president of that party. There was in 1860 the same kind of pressure on the country that was tearing it apart and the voters chose the party of change. I read some of the responses on this topic and the idea that the Tea Party could split one of the parties and cause the very person that you want to get rid of reelected. The Republican party took the Wig party over and forced it to change its prospective and that is what should happen to the Republican party and I would love to see the Tea Party pick someone in the Republican party that has all of the attributes required to qualify under the Tea Party banner in stead of reelecting Harry Reid by splitting the vote.

wow who would have thought that people in the state would disagree with both parties canindates...hello we as a people need to express our distaste with the "government" and reform our party system...there is no black and white right or wrong only gray area...we need to do away with the 2 party system bs and truly be able to vote on our representatives for their views and policies not because they are republican or democrat...or tea party or independant for that matter...force the people to become informed voters not some guy who watches the news and thinks he knows it all
