Court rejects appeal of 2 killers sentenced to life

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of two killers who argued they should have been tried separately in Las Vegas for the shooting of a man in 2006.
Lee A. Vincent, 25, was convicted of first-degree murder. Ricky J. Vazquez was found guilty of second-degree murder. Both were sentenced to consecutive terms of life in prison with the possibility of parole.
The court upheld the decision of District Judge Valerie Adair, who refused to separate their trial in 2008. They were found guilty in the fatal shooting of Richard Morris during a robbery in September 2006.
Vincent argued he should be granted a new trial because one of the jurors contacted Vazquez. The Supreme Court said the contact by juror Marnie Ramirez came after the jury issued its verdict.
Vincent also complained his co-defendants made incriminating statements against him to police. But the court said those statements were not introduced at trial.
Vazquez said he should have been given a separate trial because the evidence failed to show he shot the victim.
The court said the two failed to show prejudice in the holdings of joint trial.

You killed someone. Doesnt really matter if your murdering buddy was talking smack about you. You did it, be the big man you think you are and deal with your sentence while you sit in jail on MY DIME.
