A public exhibit displaying 30 years of photos symbolic of diplomatic relations between China and the United States is set to open today on the Las Vegas Strip.

MGM Mirage, in conjunction with The Chinese Peoples’ Association for Friendship with Foreign Counties, will host “Looking Back after 30 Years” at Crystals in CityCenter through Feb. 22.

The retrospective photo exhibit will be shown chronologically in a four-part, 80-panel display that will span the second and third levels of the high-end retail mall. The exhibit will be open daily from 10 a.m. to midnight and will be free to the public.

MGM Mirage officials said the exhibit has toured several major cities, including New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Macau, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

The display arrives at CityCenter just two weeks before Chinese New Year, which is expected to bring thousands to Las Vegas for the holiday.

MGM Mirage executives will open the exhibit today alongside Madame Li, daughter of former Chinese President Li, and Feng Xie, the minister and deputy chief of mission for the Chinese Embassy.

The $8.5 billion CityCenter complex already houses $40 million of public art, including works from acclaimed artists Henry Moore, Frank Stella and Maya Lin.
