Gray Maynard’s parting message to the MGM Grand Garden Arena crowd at Friday afternoon’s UFC 125 weigh-in was to enjoy a safe New Year’s Eve.

Leave the danger for the octagon on New Year’s Day. All 22 fighters competing on Saturday’s card made weight Friday.

Fighters are allowed to come in one pound overweight for their specific weight divisions. No one weighed more than that.

Both Maynard and current UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar came in at exactly 155 pounds. In the co-Main Event, Chris Leben and Brian Stann each weighed in at 186 before posing for a picture and engaging in perhaps the afternoon’s most intense stare down.

Leben scowled for the duration, even after the fighters broke the pose to shake hands. Stann showed little emotion and news from his Twitter account may explain why.

Stann tweeted earlier Friday that one of the Marines who served in his unit while in the military passed away in Afghanistan. Stann won a Silver Star during his time in the Marines after he helped his team of 42 soldiers survive a six-day ambush.

“Heavy hearted now and cannot wait to fight Saturday,” Stann tweeted.

The only photo opportunity that resulted in any trash talk came in a welterweight bout between Nate Diaz and Dong Hyun Kim.

After both made weight, Diaz jawed at Kim during their pose. It's worth noting that Kim, from South Korea, doesn’t speak English.

Diaz was the only fighter to receive boos from the crowd in attendance. Clay Guida enjoyed the warmest reception with a shower of cheers as he weighed in at 155 before his lightweight fight against Takanori Gomi.

Nick Diaz fails to back up years worth of talk

UFC 158 A welterweight title fight that felt incredibly different wound up remarkably the same. Georges St. Pierre manhandled nemesis Nick Diaz with his wrestling. St. Pierre won every round on every judges' scorecard in Montreal for his sixth straight unanimous-decision victory. Diaz had preached his superiority over St. Pierre for years, but when he finally got his chance, he looked as helpless as all the other challengers to the 170-pound division's throne in the last six years. St. Pierre's consistency continued to amaze. Now it's on to Johny Hendricks, who defeated Carlos Condit in the evening's co-main event. Could he be the one to finally threaten St. Pierre?
