Plane lands in neighborhood after reporting low fuel

A small plane is towed away after making an emergency landing Friday afternoon near Jones Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue. The pilot radioed controllers in North Las Vegas that he was running low on fuel, officials said.

A small plane with three people on board landed in a Las Vegas neighborhood Friday afternoon after the pilot radioed air traffic controllers that he was running low on fuel, a Federal Aviation Administration official said.

The pilot of the Piper Cherokee told controllers he wold try to make it to the North Las Vegas Airport but ended up landing about 1: 35 p.m. around Jones Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue, said Ian Gregor, communications manager for the FAA’s Western-Pacific Region.

Nobody on board the plane was injured and there was no damage to the plane, Gregor said. It was not known where the flight originated, he said.

According to FAA records, the owners of the plane are Brian J. Owen of Reno and John A. Burruel.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
