A 34-year-old man suspected of murder was arrested Tuesday night in North Las Vegas.

Francisco Mata is accused of stabbing 30-year-old Pedro Ortega-Vivanco to death and attempting to kill Hector Ortega-Gonzalez, 37. Mata is being held in the Clark County Detention Center without bail.

Mata was arrested at 3712 Glendale Ave. in North Las Vegas at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Henderson Police said.

Henderson Police say they think Mata confronted the two men and attacked them Nov. 24 near the intersection of Lindell Road and Blue Diamond Road in Las Vegas. Ortega-Gonzalez was able to get back into his van and drive to a gas station near the intersection of Seven Hills Drive and St. Rose Parkway in Henderson.

A female clerk at the convenience store at the gas station called 911, police said. When police arrived, officials said, Ortega-Vivanco was dead in the van, and Ortega-Gonzalez was brought to a hospital and treated for stabbing wounds.
