The Summerlin Library Performing Arts Center is hosting a “Christmas Wizard of Oz” show on Tuesday.

CreativArts, a local dance program for children, is presenting a holiday rendition of the 1939 film classic at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle. The show is free and open to the general public.

The Christmas twist on the children’s tale includes a snow blizzard instead of a tornado, a snowman instead of the Scarecrow, a toy soldier instead of the Tin Man and a stuffed lion toy instead of the Cowardly Lion.

“Although I bought the script online (for the play), we made it our own,” said CreativArts owner and artistic director Kristena Stringer. “We made it fit what our needs were.”

Performing in the show will be some of Stringer’s 75 students -- dancers ages 3 to 15. The show will give students a chance to express themselves artistically, Stringer said.

“We provide imagination and creativity for children through musical theater,” said Stringer, a choreographer and dance instructor for 23 years. “I hope the kids have fun and the audience to have a good time.”
