A Metro Police officer was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he failed several field sobriety tests, authorities said.

David Michael Denton was arrested Tuesday in Henderson for DUI.

The 33-year-old Denton failed a preliminary breath test that registered a 0.178 percent blood-alcohol content, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

KTNV-TV said Denton allegedly crashed his department sedan into a median. He was placed on paid administrative leave.
