Lake Mead will light up this Saturday during the annual Christmas Parade of Lights, sponsored by the Lake Mead Boat Owners Association.

Floats decorated with festive lights and holiday characters will leave the lake's marina at 7 p.m. They will circle Pyramid Island and then sail in front of Boulder Beach, the most popular spot for bystanders in past years, said Barb Wagner, the parade's chairwoman.

Following the parade, there will be an awards celebration at the lake's marina.

Earlier in the day, park rangers will host Santa's Electric Light Parade from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the visitor center. Come out for free hot cocoa, s'mores and activities for the kids.

Visitors are also invited to come to the marina during the day, Wagner said, to see the floats up close.

The visitor center is located at 601 Nevada Way.
