Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 | 10:25 a.m.

Crash location

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the driver of a pickup truck who died Monday in a single-vehicle accident on the Las Vegas Strip as 40-year-old Scott Anderson from Las Vegas.

Metro Police responded at 2:56 a.m. to the crash in the 3400 block of south Las Vegas Boulevard. Investigators said Anderson drove his 2006 Toyota Tacoma landscaping truck off the west sidewalk, crossed four travel lanes and struck a tree stump in the center median.

Anderson was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center's trauma unit, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said it is unknown whether a medical condition played a role in the crash. The coroner hasn't determined the cause of his death.

Metro's Accident Investigation Section is continuing to investigate the crash.

  1. It's very hard to speed in that area of the strip, so he must have been doing no more than 40mph. I'm guessing heart/panic attack or was drunk and fell asleep at the wheel with no seatbelt.

  2. Was there a "vapor trail?"
