Vice chairman of LV Planning Commission resigns

Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 | 3:40 p.m.

Keen Ellsworth, vice chairman of the city of Las Vegas Planning Commission, announced his resignation Thursday because his family is moving outside city limits.

Ellsworth, a Las Vegas attorney and owner of law firm Ellsworth, Moody and Bennion, Chtd., said he still plans to work in Las Vegas. He said he is stepping down because city residency is required to be a member of the Planning Commission.

“It’s going to be a bitter pill for me to swallow,” Ellsworth said of the change.

Ellsworth said he would serve on the commission until they find a replacement. Commissioners are nominated and appointed by the Las Vegas City Council for four-year terms. Ellsworth’s term was set to expire in June 2013.

“We’ve appreciated all you’ve done for the commission,” said Chairman Ric Truesdell at the meeting Thursday night. “You’ve represented your constituents very well.”
