Families looking for a way to cut back on the cost of back-to-school supplies might find respite this Friday.
Free school supplies – spiral notebooks, notebook paper, pens and pencils – will be distributed while they last at a Back-to-School Fair and Movie in the Park event on Aug. 27 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Organized by Ward 4 Councilman Stavros S. Anthony, the festivities will take place at Bruce Trent Park, 8851 Vegas Drive.
“I encourage everyone to attend and enjoy the movie and community gathering on this last Friday before school begins again,” Anthony said in a press release about the event.
“Planet 51,” a PG-rated movie featuring animated aliens, will start playing at dusk. Free light refreshments will be provided to moviegoers, and food will be available for purchase.
The event is sponsored by Cricket Communications, Republic Services and the city of Las Vegas.
