Shooting

The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified a man and woman who died during an apparent murder-suicide Thursday evening at a condominium in the northwest valley.

Edith Corona, 19, from Las Vegas, died from a gunshot wound to the head. Her death was ruled a homicide, according to the coroner.

Jose Vergara-Rodriguez, from Las Vegas, also died, and the coroner ruled his death a suicide from a gunshot wound to the head.

Metro Police have said it appeared one person shot the other and then turned the gun on himself or herself.

The shooting was reported shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday in the 6800 block of West Elm Creek Drive by a relative who arrived at the home and found the injured couple, police said. The relative had received a call indicating there was a problem and was told to go to the home, police said. Officials haven't said who placed the call.

Two children, a boy and a girl both younger than 5 years old, were at the home at the time but weren't injured, police said.
