Grab an umbrella on the way out. The Las Vegas Valley was getting rain this morning — and some parts of the valley got as much as three-tenths of an inch of rain overnight.

Monsoon moisture will combine with a low pressure system over California to produce isolated to scattered thunderstorms across much of Southern Nevada and Northwest Arizona, as well as the mountain of northern Inyo County, according to the National Weather Service.

Brief heavy rain and gusty winds are possible with these storms, the weather service said. The storms will be fairly fast-moving, which will limit the potential of flash floods, forecasters said.

Drier air will push in from the west by Monday, then dry weather is expected through Friday, they said.

Temperatures will be slightly below normal today and Monday — reaching only the high 90s — then return to above normal for the rest of the upcoming week, forecasters said.

While some areas in the Las Vegas Valley missed the overnight rain, most neighborhoods did get some measurable amounts late Saturday night into early Sunday morning, the weather service said.

The heaviest amounts were in southeast Henderson, where totals of 0.1 of an inch to 0.3 of an inch were common, forecasters said.

A heavy shower also affected the Aliante area. However, most locations saw just a trace to a few hundredths of an inch, the weather service said.

As of 6 a.m., McCarran International Airport, reported a trace; North Las Vegas Airport, 0.01 of an inch; Nellis Air Force Base, 0.01 of an inch, and Henderson Executive Airport, a trace.

At 5:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 74 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 78 degrees. The record low was 64 degrees, set in 1957 and 1937.

Around the valley just before 6 a.m., temperatures were 50 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 51 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 51 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 88 degrees by 9 a.m., to 94 degrees by noon and reach a high of 97 degrees by 3 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 103 degrees and the record high was 114 degrees, set in 1978.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 95 degrees by 6 p.m., to 90 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 85 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Monday's morning low will be 76 degrees and Monday's high will climb to 101 degrees, they said.
