Construction accident
A construction worker killed July 26 in an accident at the site of the new Hustler Club has been identified as Jesus Samano Rico, 42, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.
Samano Rico was crushed by a front-loader machine's shovel at the construction site, near Ponderosa Way and Dean Martin Drive, while working in between the front shovel and main part of the machine.
Clark County Fire Department spokesman Scott Allison said witnesses believe Samano Rico may have reached into the machine and accidentally hit a control, which unleashed the shovel and pinned him in the cavity between the main machine and shovel.
Officials said co-workers tried to release the shovel but were unable to do so before fire crews arrived. Emergency workers had to use equipment to pry him from the shovel's grip.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident.
