From July 14 through Aug. 4, Robin Leach will be relaxing under the Tuscan sun on his annual vacation and keeping his eyes on what’s happening in Las Vegas from Italy. Meantime, a kindly crew of Las Vegas celebrities and VIPs has agreed to write guest columns for Vegas DeLuxe.

Hey, everyone. It’s your old buddy Carrot Top filling in for my good friend Robin Leach while he finally gets the help he needs in rehab.
It’s been a pretty good year since we last did this. I signed an extension at the Luxor that has me headlining there through 2015. I will be 85 years old then, so I hope I can still do my show without pulling something. I also was very flattered and humbled to have been voted Best Comedian by the readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. I’ve been voted Best Comedian by the staff writers there, but this was the first time the readers made me their choice. I cannot thank you guys enough or tell you what it means to me.
I also was fortunate enough to have a brief appearance in the hit movie The Hangover. If you stay for the credits, you’ll see me partying it up with the four cast members. We shot all of the pics in my dressing room after a show one night. All four guys couldn’t have been nicer, and the director, Todd Phillips, is a great guy. I had no idea when we shot those pics how popular that movie was going to be, but I get someone telling me almost every day that they saw me.
The best thing that happened this year was our National Prop Contest. It actually was the brainchild of our fearless leader, Luxor President Felix Rappaport. We did one for Luxor employees that went so well, we decided to do one bigger. We announced it last fall on Live With Regis and Kelly, and the response was incredible. We had hundreds of entries that were great. We went back on Regis and Kelly in June and named the winner.
Here’s the problem, though. We can’t find the winner. They made a prop called the Redneck Kindle, which is actually hilarious and gets a great laugh every night in my show. There was no contact info, so no way to get hold of who made the prop. They get a great prize package to come to the Luxor, stay there and see my show and have dinner. So, if you know the person who made it, tell them that they are losing out and have them contact Robin at this blog. The nationwide search is on!
That’s about it, I guess, another year in the life of Carrot Top. It really has been a great year, and I can’t wait to see what the next year holds. See you all at the Luxor soon.
Flamingo comedian headliner George Wallace and nightlife guru Jack Colton are tomorrow’s guest columnists.
