Metro Police have arrested a 19-year-old Las Vegas man in connection with the death of a teen girl who was found Sunday near Owens Avenue and Marion Drive.

Metro Police spokesman Marcus Martin said the girl, identified as 14-year-old Diana Soto of Las Vegas, was found dead by a passerby about 6:40 a.m. Sunday in the 4700 block of East Owens Avenue.

He said Soto appeared to have been dumped in the area and had suffered traumatic injuries to her neck and head. The coroner’s office hasn't determined an official cause of death.

Martin said a preliminary investigation indicated that 19-year-old Juan Rivera was allegedly involved in Soto’s death. Rivera was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center Monday on charges of murder, sexual assault and robbery. He is being held without bail.
