First the Beatles and Elvis, now Michael Jackson.
The acrobatic troupe Cirque du Soleil announced Tuesday that it will put on a live touring show featuring the songs of the King of Pop starting late next year.
That will be followed by a permanent production in Las Vegas in 2012 at a property owned by casino operator MGM Mirage.
The casino company did not say which venue will host the show. Cirque and Jackson's estate will each own 50 percent of the project and share equally in the cost of putting it on.
The estate will also receive royalties from the use of Jackson's music and other property.

Will it feature 13 year old boys moonwalking while drinking Jesus Juice?
Isn't that Criss Angel "Believe" show at the Luxor contract up by then? :). Mandalay Bay has Lion King, Bellagio has 'O', CityCenter has Elvis, Mirage has 'Love', NYNY has 'Zumanity'. Circus Circus and Excalibur are out because they aren't nice enough, on some level. Monte Carlo is suspect because Lance Burton is done towards the end of this year, but that room lacks the capacity for what I'm sure to be is a huge production. Criss Angel seems like he could fill in for Lance in 2012.
Good Grief, not Michael Jackson. This man is a stone cold bumbling idiot, and I consider this to be an insult to my intelligence. Proceed, and you will have lost my business.
They could call it "Michael Jackson - Pedophile on a Pedestal"
Excellent news,this will be a show stopper.Can't wait.Excellent decision.
So people go ahead and whine away.
vegas has officially jumped the shark.
REALLY?
when is the last time this guy had a REAL hit?
1992?
ya, that will get tourists coming here again.
Michael should have teamed up with the Cirque people when he was alive for an incredible show. Might have just turned things around for him at that point. We will never know...
This guy would have been sent to a nut house if he had'nt found pop music.
TheKash : " Jackson a stone cold bumbling idiot" you say ?
And what may I ask have you accomplished in your life that could even be as close as being in the same universe of achievement that Mr. Jackson attained in his relatively short life?
Well, another fabulous Cirque show...
Let me take a wild guess: Maybe weird dressed circus performers doing acrobatics set to Jackson music?
Wow! what innovation. So new, so fresh! That hasn't been done before, has it??
ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Jackson, very popular with important European and Japanese tourists.
Just what vegas needs another Cirque show. When you have seen one you have seen them all. Boring Boring Boring
I see the bankrupt comments are out again....
"when was the last time he had a hit.....1992?"
Well.....let's see, I'd say his last hit was well after the Beatles and Elvis....DUH
Regardless of how you feel about the man, his music is timeless. just because you won't play his CD in your fortress of solitude doesn't mean the vast majority of people wouldn't want to see that show. I just don't see the point in touring the country with it first. Make them come to Vegas.
Would you let your daughter live with O.J. or let your 13 year old son sleep IN Michael Jackson's bed with him?
Sometimes a little common sense is needed when making decisions, and my decision is to never go to any show that praises a "non-convicted" child molester like Michael Jackson. Sadly I own MGM stock and I am not at all happy with this decision.
and i ALSO think the beatles and elvis shows are stupid as well, for the record. there's just too many shows like this. it's cheesy.
Well,,, Here is a thought. If you think that these shows are stupid and cheesy ect. then don't go..
end of story ..
i won't...because they are stupid and cheesy.
I agree with many of the comments people have made about the draw the show will have. While Michael Jackson had many personal issues and legal entanglements, he was an incredible talent and world-class entertainer.
I don't know if I would see the show if it does happen, but I would at least be be willing to give it a chance.
I'm amazed at all the negative comment regarding Cirque. The KA show at the MGM EFX Theatre is the most amazing Performance Art show I have ever experienced, well worth the hundred and fifty bucks per ticket I shelled out for me and the ex wife.
Yeah, the Beatles and Elvis, Michael Jackson...stupid & cheesy.
record sales; (R.I.A.A.)
Elvis 2.5 BILLION.
Beatles 1.6 BILLION.
Michael Jackson had 1 album that sold over 100 million by itself.
Love is a great cirq show.
Haven't seen Elvis, but had friends come to town who saw it and enjoyed it a lot.
I'm sure the MJ show will be very successful!
