Nevada assemblyman apologizes for vandalizing campaign sign
Wednesday, April 14, 2010 | 9:12 a.m.
Nevada Republican Assemblyman Ty Cobb of Reno is apologizing after a witness reported seeing him destroy a campaign sign belonging to Democratic Assemblywoman Sheila Leslie.
Cobb tells the Reno Gazette-Journal he was "goofing around" Friday night after leaving a Nevada Bighorns Unlimited dinner when he kicked the sign on a street corner.
A witness who attended the same dinner said he was stopped at a traffic light and saw Cobb get out of the passenger side of a car, walk up and start kicking the sign.
When contacted by the newspaper, Cobb admitted to the incident and offered to pay Leslie for the sign.
Cobb and Leslie are seeking different Senate seats in this year's election.

Good to know we have such mature, responsible elected officials in this state.
It would seem that politics has become much less about getting anything useful done and only about bashing one's opponent. If that's all they want to do, give them their own TV show and the rest of us can take turns serving in these positions as part of a "civil duty" thing, maybe like with jury duty. I can't see how the everyday person, even with a lack of political experience, could possibly do any worse.
Just what we need an adult who acts like a 4th grader... You Stay Classy San Diego.
Doesn't this numbnut have an underling to do the dirty work like the rest of his GOP colleagues?
children!!!
Republican's have so much class.......
Another example of the "no" party and he probably also supports the Tea Party. When you have individuals in government who act like this no wonder we are experiencing all these uncivilized type of behaviors. He should do more than apologize. He needs to apologize to all candidates for being such a child.
What ever happened to Republicans like Everett Dirksen? We now have the out of control dittohead teabaggery.
Should a breathalyzer test been mandated?
The sad thing is that I'm sure Ty Cobb is capable of much, much worse...
Pathetic!!! Almost as pathetic as the pathological liar Sue Lowden.
I know Ty Cobb. And he is one reprehensible person. He's petty, mean, hateful and full of himself. It's all about Ty Cobb. This doesn't surprise me. He has designs on eventually becoming governor. And judging by the voting track record in this state, he will be sooner than later.
Ty's in a league of his own. The man's a political god!
What is the over/under on this guy being arrested for a DUI in the next 6 months? I would definitely bet on it.
if you don't feel confident as an "R" in Northern Nevada, you're in a world of hurt...
"I know Ty Cobb. And he is one reprehensible person. He's petty, mean, hateful and full of himself. It's all about Ty Cobb. This doesn't surprise me."
I know Ty Cobb, too. I would also like to add that he's rude, unpleasant and unlikable. He's also not nearly as smart as he fancies himself.
"He has designs on eventually becoming governor. And judging by the voting track record in this state, he will be sooner than later."
I certainly hope he never holds another public office, but I have little faith in the electorate. Hopefully, he will be soundly defeated in his senatorial bid, so he can fade into well-deserved obscurity.
I forgot something. I hate to get all petty and personal, as Ty himself often does, but one can sometimes learn something about the character of a person by observing his appearance and style. I'm not sure if someone keeps track of this sort of thing, but Ty probably has the worst combover of any politician in Nevada, although you would never know it from his campaign signs.
I live in assemblyman Cobb's district. The district is so Republican that if "Hitler (R)" were on the ballot, then Adolf would be elected. Before Cobb, we had the nutcase Sharron Angle (our next U.S. Senator) representing us. Cobb is perhaps not as inflammatory as Angle, but comes across as an arrogant idealogue. Cobb's father was some sort of foreign policy advisor in the Reagan admin. and writes a newspaper column that is so jingoistic, partisan and just plain wrong that I shudder to think that he had something to do with our national security.
Everytime someone says or does something it is attributed to the Tea Party movement. Totally unfair! The Tea Party movement goal is to hold ALL candidates accountable for their actions...to stop the runaway tax-and-spend Congress; to stop executive orders which are dictatorial and have gotten out of hand; and to limit the powers of the federal government and give them back to the States where they belong. Read your Constitution! Whether Republican or Democratic, we all should be appalled at the direction both parties have taken this country. We need a whole new Congress; we desperately need ethical and responsible candidates;we the people have to keep an eye on them and be more informed; we need those who may tell us what we don't want to hear, or do--unless you are one of those who enjoy holding your hand out, forever beholden to the government. When you do this, you lose your liberty. So what's important to you? This country's future for your children or a hand-out? Look what happened in Germany. Look what is currently happening in Greece. We are not far behind. Read "the 5000Year Leap," a good start in learning about our government. Educate yourselves before you open your mouth.
