Son of daycare operator accused of lewdness with minor

Metro Police today are asking for the public's help in finding possible victims who might have been sexually assaulted by the son of a Las Vegas day care operator.

Matthew Joseph Andrews, 19, was arrested Sept. 17 in connection with sexual assault and lewdness with a minor, police said.

As detectives investigated the incident, they discovered that Andrews' mother operates a day care service out of her home in the 8500 block of Eddy Stone Avenue in Las Vegas, police said. The day care has operated since January 2001.

Day care services have been discontinued since Matthew Andrews' arrest, police said.

Metro detectives are concerned that there might be other children who were abused or sexually assaulted and are asking parents who have children attending the day care operation to contact Metro's Special Victims Sexual Abuse Juvenile Section if they believe their children have been abused.

The lead detectives are C. Jex, at 455-5427 and J. Lafreniere, at 455-1372.
