Las Vegas 51s outfielder Buck Coats won a gold medal on Sunday with Team USA at the Baseball World Cup in Nettuno, Italy.
Coats doubled and scored during the Americans' six-run outburst in the seventh inning against Cuba in the gold medal game to help Team USA win its second consecutive World Cup with a 10-4 victory.
Coats, who batted in the leadoff spot and started in 14 of Team USA’s 15 games, had three RBIs Friday in a 8-2 victory against the Netherlands. He finished with four home runs, 12 RBIs and 13 runs in batting .321.
The Americans lost its tournament opener to Germany before closing the event with 14 straight wins. The team of top minor league prospects outscored opponents 118-42.
