FLASHPOINT:

Odd place for anti-Reid rally

Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 | 2:01 a.m.

Please come to Searchlight for the weekend — or so a less-than-friendly group is imploring Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The group Taxation Without Representation, which is not even based in Nevada, will hold an “Un-Elect Harry Reid” rally today in Reid’s hometown. The Arizona-based group, led by a former Lake Havasu mayor, says it has attracted interest from all over the country. Perhaps the rally will double or triple the population of Searchlight today as the group plays Waiting for Harry. There might be one good reason for Reid to return home this weekend, if not to confront the protesters: Seems like a good place to try to sell his book about Searchlight. Maybe the out-of-staters will learn something.
