Sun editorial:
Ugly opposition to Obama
Unapologetic Rep. Joe Wilson has disgracefully embraced his newfound notoriety
Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 | 2:07 a.m.
Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., created a firestorm when he yelled “You lie!” during President Barack Obama’s speech to Congress last week.
At the urging of Republican leadership, Wilson called the White House to apologize and spoke with Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel. Wilson, however, refused to apologize to his House colleagues.
Wilson broke House rules by calling the president a liar, and in the past other House members have apologized on the floor for similar conduct. Because Wilson refused to apologize to his colleagues, the House passed a resolution Tuesday disapproving of his remarks.
Wilson, however, remains undeterred — he seems to be enjoying the national notoriety and the far right’s acclaim. He was caught on video autographing photos of himself confronting the president. And Wilson told The Washington Times on Wednesday that he had raised “significantly over” $1 million since the incident, largely due to the support of right-wing radio talk show hosts.
Wilson has become the darling of the anti-Obama crowd, which is something no one should want because of the racism that has infused the movement. Former President Jimmy Carter told NBC News he believes “an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man.”
“It’s an abominable circumstance and grieves me and concerns me very deeply,” Carter said.
Some of Obama’s critics prove the point. It is sickening to see detractors waving posters with racial slurs or depicting the president as a communist or Adolf Hitler.
Unfortunately, Wilson has played dumb. In the Washington Times interview, Wilson wouldn’t even address repeated questions about racism, saying that the focus should be on “the issues.”
But Wilson has blown his chance to ever be taken seriously in discussing “the issues” because of his failure to confront and address the vitriol, the hatred and the ugly racism that Obama’s shrillest opponents have come to represent.

Why do those on the extreme left continue to race bait? They seem determined to allow this country to be one. Any criticism, not just of this President, but of anyone supporting their ideals is labeled a racist, a mob, unAmerican, or a hate monger.
The hatred all seems to come from the left as they scream about rights and such. It gets confusing but I guess it makes sense to them.
We had to know the left was going to play the race card the first time one of Obama's policy goals received significant opposition. It could have been any of a million things, but as it turns out, it was the health-care takeover scheme. The Sun is very careful here not to accuse Wilson of outright racism and it's a good thing. They couldn't possibly know what's in Wilson's heart, nor can Jimmy Carter.
I just hang on to every word Jimmy Carter says. The worst president in my lifetime. No foreign policy, through the roof interest rates, unemployment, etc, etc. Why would anyone care what he has to say. I find it very interesting that the retired democratic presidents can not stay out of the lime light or keep their opinions to themselves. You do not see or hear political commentaries from the republican ex-presidents. It appears the republican presidents have some class. It would be very easy to George Bush to opine on what Obama has done to date ( un-doing the missle defense for example ) but I have not heard a word. Its time for the old guys to enjoy their retirement and keep their mouth shut. If its racism, how was he elected ?? Its his policies.
Race has nothing to do with Joe W. calling Obama a liar. You also could yell that Obama didn't tell the whole truth.
Dean Heller was the House member that added SAVE to the bill. SAVE would have allowed the government to weed out the illegals from gaining benefits from the health bill. Is there a list of the unamerican House members that voted SAVE out of the bill. These elected officials should have their names printed on the front page of every newspaper in the country to disgrace them to no end. If they were not for SAVE, then they were for illegal aliens getting health care. Is this why good Americans go to the poles? To elect our politicians who stand up for illegals who break federal laws? What will the next "Titanic" bill will be passed by our politicians and be labeled "unsinkable", and will do good for all Americans. NAFTA? Oops already passed. CAFTA? Oh, another already passed. The North American Union? Be keeping your eyes and ears open. We can't trust the majority of politicians we voted into office.
Joe Wilson did a favor for the citizens of the United States . Because of him SAVE was put back into the Bill last Friday. How can this be considered racism?
I call Joes' statement, " a patiotic opposition to Obama".
joe little maggot wilson is a racist...
was an aide to strom thurmond...
strom thurmond was a blatant racist...
who curiously fathered a child with a black women...
and the saddest part of all...
joe little maggot wilson criticized this woman for coming forward and revealing that strom thurmond was her biological father...
joe little maggot wilson said she was trying to "smear" strom thurmond the racist's reputation...
imagine that...
what a little maggot joe wilson is...
what little maggots our stupid pathetic republican friends are...
bottom line...
if you are black or latino...
why on god's green earth would you even think about joining the stupid pathetic republican party!!!
Ugly opposition to Obama: WOW! The Las Vegas Sun cares about are President but only if he is a Democrat. Of course to hell with President Bush no kind words for him. Once again the Sun is reporting from there favorite position deep left field. Also how many times do you think that the left call President Bush - ADOLF HITLER: (Just ask the New York Times they should know they called him that everyday)
Why is the LV Sun repeating and repeating and repeating the lie that Jimmy Carter said "an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man."
The LV Sun knows flat out it is a lie. Obama said it is a lie.
Why is the LV Sun repeating and repeating and repeating the lie that Jimmy Carter said
Ugly opposition to Obama
Unapologetic Rep. Joe Wilson has disgracefully embraced his newfound notoriety
...How can the SUN publish such a blatant lie? Is there anyone in the country who does not know that Joe Wilson DID apologize? Apparently, only the SUN
Wasn't this editorial just in this rag yesterday? Oh, that's right, a failed anti-semitic fraud like Jimmy Carter chimed in again with his race-hustle so I guess the knuckleheaded race-baiters who run this paper figured they would give us round two.
Joe Wilson is right. Obama is a pathetic serial liar.
Btw, has anyone seen a story about the ACORN scandal on the pages of this paper? I can't recall one, but I was just wondering when the editors would come out and accuse the two filmmakers who were dressed as a "ho" and "pimp" to unmask this group were guilty of "rascism" too.
The LV SUN has stooped to a new low in this piece of "yellow" journalism.
I expect the LV SUN to be bias as they usually are, but this editorial is so rotten that I bet Harry can smell it...
The writer of this editorial has a real problem.
And the Editors of the LV SUN are now solid in the race baiting club...
Ahhh.
I see most of you are here already. I'm shocked!
Larry, Neiman, jlb101, powerplay, fremmasmind;
The rest will be along shortly.
If you folks believe for ONE MINUTE that race does NOT play a part in the opposition to President Obama and his policies, you are living in a state of EXTREME DENIAL.
Is it the ONLY reason for opposition?
Of course not.
The far-right will argue against ANYTHING Obama proposes, just because, well, a Democrat is proposing it.
Racism is very much alive and well in America.
The racists have had to retreat to their closets; they can no longer be so overt in their actions as they once were. But just because one is subtly racist, or a closet racist, doesn't mean it won't permeate into society in general and in Joe Wilson's case, into the political arena. I think the day will come when race will cease to be a factor. I know it is too far off that I'll live to see it.
Jimmy Carter was absolutely 100% correct! It is and always has been about race in this country. Anyone who believes otherwise is an utter fool. Blacks don't trust whites because they have a whole history of reasons not to. Whites don't trust blacks because of that same history. Funny how a few months ago, a lot of people were saying blacks can't cry racism anymore because we have a black president. Well well well.
You kool aid drinking liberal nutjobs who think that race is a material element in the opposition to Obama are full of crap. The masses are sick and tired of this President's intrusive policies. You are the same nutcases who would have thought that 1776 should never have occurred because of loud opposition to the King for taxation without representation. There was anger then;there is anger now!
Former President Jimmy Carter has declared that those who are outspoken against the Obama health care policies are racially motivated--that they are speaking out against these policies because President Obama is a "black man". Carter is an old fool blinded by his own bitterness and prejudices. During his own Presidency--a one term mistake, he revealed his weakness and misguided thinking to not only the American people, but to an entire world. This old fool continues to rant and rave in the darkness of his own thinking. What Carter refuses to see and accept is that the masses of Americans from all walks of life truly are in disagreement with the deep intrusions into their lives by the current Obama administration. The protests by Americans are widespread. It cuts across all party lines, all ideologies and all races. After all it was the pronounced majority of Americans who elected a "black man" to the Presidency. To now claim as Carter did that the masses of Americans who are now speaking out against Obama's health care policies because the President in an African -American just makes no sense. Jimmy Carter is no longer relevant in the world.
Ahhh gmag:
You just love to bring the race card to the table. You mention race six times in you rant. You also insinuate that Joe Wilson is a racist because of his "YOU LIED" statement.
Are you calling us racists because we do not support the current administration?
And the far-left will argue against ANYTHING Republicans proposes, just because, well, Republicans are proposing it.
gmag is nothing more than a "race baiter."
LV4life states that Jimmy Carter was absolutely 100% correct!
If so, then this is a first for Carter...
LV4life also rants that it is and always has been about race in this country.
How did Obama get elected if it is all about race?
Larry, President Obama was elected because the majority voted for him. That dosen't mean that there no more racist or that racism dosen't exist. As for Mr. Carter... I think that he is a highly intellectual person. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the man.
President Obama was elected by voters from ALL races, nationalities and religions.
There has always been and probably always will be racists, bigots, perverts and bird lovers in this country.
But when someone says that you are a racist because you oppose the direction the current administration is headed, then...
Obama is president and race is not really the issue here at all. He is towing the line for one of the two biggest groups of crooks out there-the Democrats. Bush worked for the Republican crooks. What's the difference?
The "liberal" side is now screaming "Racism" at anyone who disagrees with their tin god.
Do you self a favor, don't vote for either party next time. Don't let the media try to tell you Obama cares about you any more than Bush did. Both of these jokers are shills for Wall Street.
The fact that Birdie agrees with this editorial tells you all you need to know.
You lunatic liberals created racism and it is very much alive and practiced daily. America as a whole are discriminated against daily because of your stupid policies. Obama is a liar and you all know it and it's about time somebody had the guts to call him exactly what he is, a liar. He was voted into office and took an oath; he needs to be impeached for not holding true to his oath. To protect and serve America, he has sold America out and he is providing aid and comfort to enemies. He is a puppet to Soros and others who seek to destroy America from within. Obama is trying to cram their socialist lunatic programs down our throats; this isn't going to happen and they realize just that. They're now stuck playing the race card in a last ditch attempt to get their policies passed. Poor little me, quit picking on me and give me special privileges without accountability.
From what I understand, it wasn't such a jump to label Mr. Wilson as a racist. He fought to have the confederate flag flying above his state capital building. Appearently he was a close friend of the late Strom Thurman. I also read some where that he was overheard saying that "segragation wasnt such a bad thing". I don't know if its true but the man at the very least in my eyes is suspect.
I agree with LV4LIFE when he says: "I don't know if its true but the man at the very least in my eyes is suspect." After all he is from the deep South and traditions are hard to beat, but that doesn't mean that he is a racist for telling the President that he was not being truthful.
I think what some feel is that to shout "you lie" while the president is addressing Congress would never have happened if the president were white. I understand that booing and hissing has been normal way of showing disagreement. But for Mr. Wilson to feel comfortable with his blatant disrespect of Mr. Obama and the office he holds could lead one to conclude there could be a racial component. There are a lot of whites that feel that a person of color should not hold the office. Its a good thing that they were not in the majority during the election.
birdbrain i have a question for you my follow the leader freind.Since when did the democraps start walking on water?Im not a member of neither party(as i have a mind of my own)and feel neither has a clue on how to run this country, but to continue to bash on the repooplicans isnt even funny anymore! We all see your one sided way,and see that you can be swayed very easily, but give it a break already. As for all the noise about the race issue, when people stop liveing in the way way past, then nothing will ever come to pass.I will admit it only has been a few months in office, but i think the mans priorties are out of wack just a bit.Not to mention the people that whom he put into office with him were a big mistake as well! He talked a good talk about change, would have been good change for the good of the country had he appointed some of the posts to the repooplican party? He made history, but could have gone that one step farther and proved an even bigger point? America is tired of the same ol crap!
Mr. Wilson was out of line, but that in itself does not make him a racist.
If I shout out that Polosi is a liar, does that mean that I am a sexist?
Apples and oranges Larry.
Republicans also rebuked Senator John Coburn when Coburn went after Republicans and their wasteful pet pork projects.
Joe Wilson finally said what the majority of americans think! Some bird turd mentions Strom Thurmond and how racist he was. Well now bird turd, Are you related to the democrat that was a recruiter and exalted cyclops of the KKK named Robert Byrd? Listen little thumb sucker, Go back to your desk at ACORN before you miss your feeding. As for Jimmy Carter, WTF! This jackass should go away already. It's a shock he even shows his face after the disastrous term he served.
Wow! This is an actual editorial in a real newspaper. Well, I guess the National Enquirer can be considered a real newspaper.
Jimmy Carter's administration had been the standard by which we judged the worst of our presidents. In January he moved into the #2 position.
"Any criticism, not just of this President, but of anyone supporting their ideals is labeled a racist, a mob, unAmerican, or a hate monger."
That's just a lie.
What Jimmy Carter said was, "an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man."
Did he say all criticism of Obama was rooted in racism? No. Did anyone?
I challenge any of you Republicans out there to show me one instance of a reasonable Democrat saying that all opposition to President Obama is rooted in racism. Nobody has said that and nobody will. It just ain't so.
But on the other hand, you would have to be incredibly naive or just plain stupid not to understand that much of the "intensely demonstrated animosity" directed at the President is rooted in racsim. Is it the "overwhelming portion" as Carter suggests? I don't think so, and you have to remember that there is a difference between reasoned dissent and "intensely demonstrated animosity." Reasoned dissent is not rooted in racism; reason is the antithesis of racism. Reasoned dissent was patriotic when I was opposed to the policies of the Bush administration, it is still patriotic today when others oppose this administration.
What isn't patriotic is carrying around signs comparing our President to Hitler or Stalin. It wasn't patriotic four years ago, and it isn't now. What isn't patriotic is appealing to people's basest instincts. What isn't patriotic is calling our President a "darkie" as someone did on the RJ's web site earlier this week. There are many other bigoted depictions of the President to which we could point. Those are, and will remain, racist expressions and run contrary to all the values that we Americans purport to hold.
Larry,
You say, "LV4life states that Jimmy Carter was absolutely 100% correct!
"If so, then this is a first for Carter..."
If we had listened to Jimmy Carter about our national energy situation thirty years ago do you think we'd have troops in Iraq right now?
spock;
Majority of Americans?
A bunch of sqeaky wheels, more like.
Have you read ANY of the numbers that are available as pertains to what the "MAJORITY"
would like to see done in Washington?
Just because you scream louder, yell nastier, make goofy signs, do the FOX trot, and listen to AM Radio, does NOT equate to a
MAJORITY.
I think it is time for the MAJORITY, who are currently in a power position in this country,
to borrow a phrase from Roosevelt, and use it with you nut-job, screaming, intellectually challenged kiddies....
Speak softly, and carry a BIG STICK.
Let's get er done!
LarryVegas,
I don't understand 9/10ths of what you write.
It's just not COGENT.
Now, you ask questions that are directly answered in my post.
Can you READ?
Former President Jimmy Carter told NBC News he believes "an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man."
"It's an abominable circumstance and grieves me and concerns me very deeply," Carter said.
Every statement and time Jim Carters face is shown in the public forum somehow, ever since he replaced Gerald Ford in the White House we have been sinking further
and further into an abyss of crap Presidential representation in America.....
And if I may so humbly make a statement that some may agree with and many certainly won't I'm sure, is what grieves me and concerns me very very deeply is how closely and narrowly his and President Obama's thought processes are related, so I hope Jim Carter reads the Las Vegas Sun bloggings on some of these articles, is the point not that the skin color may be different and THAT is a struggle the public is facing, but rather the struggle lies in their common train of thought ..Can we say it may be a "Southern thing" you ask?Well as Mark Twain once quoted, "Looks like an idiot, smells like an idiot, acts just like an idiot, I think ya'll know the rest of the quote....
No, just for speculation purposes I believe deep in my heart that Jimmy, Billy Carter and Barack Huessan Obama were defused at birth and in that day and age there was no National Enquier to report such a thing, and in that day and age it just would'nt have been a very popular thing to report about
gmag,
Of course you don't understand what I write.
Your questions are not direct, your posts have no substance and your answers are no more than name calling rhetoric.
If you do not want to read my posts, then don't and don't answer them either.
That is all...
JohnF: You say: "If we had listened to Jimmy Carter about our national energy situation thirty years ago do you think we'd have troops in Iraq right now?"
No, because we would still have our hostages in Iran.
We wouldn't have a military today if it was up to Carter.
The Soviet Union would have out paced up years ago.
Jimmy did a great job on the Oil Embargo, didn't he? I remember it well...
Jimmy should take a clue from the other past presidents and keep his big mouth shut. He is a total embarrassment to this country. He has zero creditability in the rest of the World, particularly in the Middle East.
Out of all the Presidents I remember since Eisenhower, Jimmy Carter is absolutely the worst in my opinion. And the worst of it, I voted for him...
gmag, Your ignorance is quite amusing. Now go change your bird cage, The fumes seem to be getting to you.
Is it me or do gmag's posts have the same format as birdie?
Sock, your statement that the "majority of americans think" is either wishfull thinking on your part or your distorted preception. I'm thinking it's a little bit of both.
Sorry, I meant Spock.
If the shoe fits.
Of course Wilson has embraced his sudden notoriety. It turned out to be worth millions. Millions! Hey, wouldn't you?
I wonder if he'll be allotted more than the usual 15 minutes of infamy.
ghost,
Don't go there, fascists were on the left side of the political spectrum (they were socialists if you didn't know) and I'd be happy to prove it multiple times over.
Don't go dig that hole for yourself, just stick to the facts if you actually have them.
So. Lar. Larryvegas.
If I raise the spector of RACISM...
You automatically dismiss it out of hand,
and call me a RACE BAITER.
You actually took the time to COUNT (nice job!)
how many times I said racism in my post.
I opined that racism is still an issue in America.
You are certainly welcome to disagree with me.
In fact, MY OPINION also is that you are much to vociferous in your claim that race is not a factor
in the Obama opposition in general, and with Joe Wilson in particular. No, it does not NECCESARILY FOLLOW that the "YOU LIE!" shouted out by Wilson was inherently racist.
You are correct. It has to be put into a context with Joe Wilson's record, history, past actions.
My OPINION is that Jimmy Carter was right.
Why am I not entitled to that OPINION without you calling me a
race-baiter?
gmag... I have never discussed Jimmy Carter with you and I don't care what your opinion is concerning Carter. But, you are are certainly welcome to your opinion.
You just love to bring race into a discussion and I will not waste my time discussing it with you.
Maybe everyone posting here today could make a small donation to alzheimers disease research fund. Make it in the Name of James Earl Carter.
gmag, Get over yourself! It's your ignorance that make you shine not the race thing. Go Wilson!
This is the last time I will attempt to school you, Larry. I'm TIRED of it, and it's fruitless.
Do you ever READ THE ARTICLES that precede your mindless ranting? RACE IS A LARGE PART OF THE STORY. capiche?
and spock, go back to whatever planet you came from.
That would be HIGHLY ILLOGICAL!
"Wilson has become the darling of the anti-Obama crowd, which is something no one should want because of the racism that has infused the movement. Former President Jimmy Carter told NBC News he believes "an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man."
This is a bit of an anti-intellectual statement by the Sun and Carter. It could be racism or it could be the fact that people are tired of big government and want less government and less taxes. After 8 years of big government Bush II can you blame them?
More than likely this doesn't have a lot to do with race, although people on the left will be more than likely to trump this up suggesting "you either support the president or you're a racist" much in the same way the right once said "you either support the president or you're an anti-American traitor" of course both are complete nonsense.
Patrick,
you are correct. Both of those statements are complete, utter nonsense.
But the right wants to dismiss ANY DISCUSSION OF RACE, by claiming anyone who raises the issue is themselves a racist/race-baiter.
That is, of course, nonsense also.
Why are people so afraid to discuss it, Patrick?
One has to love to read the posts and you tree huggers top them all. Stick to the point and stop changing the topics to skirt around the issue. Admit to yourself, Obama is a liar and it's about time somebody had the guts to say just that. Call it like you see it, Obama is a pathetic leader and is a disgrace to America.
and there you have it. the hateful right, spewing crap, with no point whatsoever.
Tree huggers? disgraceful pathetic president?
Did you come with spock?
larry5 said....
"Jimmy Carter's administration had been the standard by which we judged the worst of our presidents. In January he moved into the #2 position."
Not sure where you got your information from...Got a link or two?
This past spring, C-SPAN had another presidential poll done with sixty-five of America's best historians taking part. If my memory serves me correctly, Jimmy Carter was ranked 25th and our beloved mentally challenged man from Texas, George junior, was ranked 36th.... James Buchanan was ranked last....
That was out of 42 presidents ranked....
gmag, Your really starting to hurt my feelings. All this negetive talk about obama makes no sense at all. Let's do lunch, I just can't be seen at your ACORN office.
C-SPAN? Really? Name these so called historians! What a joke!
spock said....
"C-SPAN? Really? Name these so called historians! What a joke! "
Why am I not surprised with your comment? Nothing new coming from you....
google the following.......enjoy!
C-SPAN 2009 Historians - Presidential Survey
Spock,
We could do lunch, but I couldn't be seen coming or going from your Gibbons re-election campaign offices; my God, I'd be slaughtered!
The local hate-talk stations should be shut down and their licenses given to local cooperatives. They are fueling the hate.
Democrats including Obmama are full of it. They will only pass a bill where illegals will get healthcare.
Section 246 of H.R. 3200 prohibits "undocumented aliens" from receiving health care, but does not prescribe a method for preventing illegal aliens from receiving health care. It goes without saying that illegal aliens will have no difficulty circumventing this rule and receiving taxpayer-funded health care under this act.
It appears that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi feel that American taxpayers and the American government should trust illegal aliens not to sign up for free health care. Trust is earned not given. It is like the new phrase democrats use for illegal immigrants, undocumented workers is like calling a burglar and unwanted house guest.
Apparently, we are supposed to trust illegal aliens who have paid thousands of dollars to participate in a criminal conspiracy to get into the country in the first place -- or they have lied on their tourist, temporary worker and student visa applications and broken their visa promises to go home by a stated date. We are suppose to trust the illegal aliens who have lied on their work application to break the law and obtain jobs. Who have stolen U.S. citizens' identities and have participated in criminal counterfeiting conspiracies to obtain jobs. But somehow, according to Nancy Pelosi, these same people wouldn't think of violating a written paragraph in the health care law that says they are ineligible to participate.
Ronald Reagan coined the phrase, "Trust, but verify." I think his words apply here. Yes, we should trust people as most people will not be lying. But we should verify their identities just to be safe because not everyone will tell the truth.
One has to love how Democrats lie without any remorse or guilt. They write bills with vague language so that when it fails they can blame somebody else for their stupidity. They'll kowtow to their constituents that they've done their job knowing darn good and well they're all liars.
So if by calling Obama a liar is racist, why is it that the outcome forced the Democrates to put SAVE back into the bill? The Democrats are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill to cover the fact that they took SAVE out of the bill. I voted for Obama because I was sucked into his chant of "CHANGE".
I voted for Obama and am not happy with his "CHANGES". He is another president who is only doing what he is told to do. If Joe Wilson is getting notoriaty because of his chant, he deserves it . No other house member stood up "for the people", But I don't hear any opposition to what they didn't do.
I guess you people who are complaining are only going to be happy when we let 30 million illegals become citizens in our country . How pathetic, our forefathers are rolling in their graves and can't believe how stupid some of our citizens have become. Could the stupid people try to hold off for awhile so the true American Citizens can fight the unamerican politicians to save our country?
The writer of this editorial stated that Joe Wilson has played dumb and that he wouldn't address repeated questions about racism, saying that the focus should be on the issues.
Well there you have it. Another stupid comment.
It seems that journalists are as bad as politicians, they will lie through their teeth to try to get our citizens to belive anything that will benefit their party.
Good post itstohot, our country needs more citizens that will stand up to even our politicians who could care less about us.
ghostnost: you're a bigger fool today than usual. Some lunatics might describe that as progress; however, I call it imbecility. The extreme right and the extreme left are two sides of the same coin, just like the old FBI and Mafia were.
Hey El Lobo my little friend, Any ranking that says Lincoln was more important than Washington is just what I expected from c-span. Reagan was #10 and kennedy was #6, Are you serious? Grow up little wanker before it's too late!
Illegals! Illegals! Illegals! Ahhhhh!
fremm assmind and 2hot, high-fiving each other with ANOTHER of the never-ending rants about "Illegals!"
You are right about one thing, there, "Frem",
our forefathers are rolling over in their graves, and can't believe how stupid people have become.
HEY LARRY! LARRYVEGAS, MY FRIEND!
HOW ABOUT THAT PHARGO, HA?
Off topic but since Jimmy Carter (aka wonder dog) is being brought up I have a question.
How come Jimmy Carter shot his mouth off about improprieties in the Afghanistan election but was quiet as a Church mouse concerning the elections in Iran?
Coward, yellow loud-mouthed coward.

spock, spock......
What are we going to do with you? Very, very poor retort on your part. The C-SPAN poll is a top presidential survey that is taken ever 4-8 years. Do you have another one that show something else and is as legit? Probably not....
Typical approach by you...you had nothing to really say so you attacked me... The Washington/Lincoln ranking goes back and forth, changing almost each new poll taken.
Ronnie "Raygun" is LUCKY to be listed 10th... Probably belongs in the mid to high 20's.
Your buddy (GWB) was in the 30's.......probably should be in the 40's.....
Go read a little history & get back to me and we will have a true discussion. You can read, right?
HEY GMAG! GMAG39, MY FRIEND!
HOW ABOUT THAT GETALIFE, HA?
Touche', Lar.
gmag,Don't worry my little friend, I voted independent. I know, Wasted vote right? You won't see me coming out of any political function held by the republicans or democrates,Period! The bottom line is the nation has been sold out! It's not me that I worry about though, It's my children and grandchildren that will suffer under the hands of these vermin. Bottom line is you can't make the presidency about yourself. Carter tried ,look what happened.

"Bottom line is you can't make the presidency about yourself. Carter tried ,look what happened."
Hmmmmm....so you're claiming that Carter made the presidency all about himself. That's interesting. Do you have any proof of that or is that just something that one of your "Carter hating" buddies told you?
It seems to me that Ronnie "Raygun" and our latest political genius, Texas George did that very thing....The "gipper" loved to tell "heart warming" stories about himself, and GWB said several times that "god wants me to be president."
Wait a second ... it wasn't that long ago that Hillary Clinton and all you Bush-bashing liberals were saying that dissent is patriotic. Now that one of yours is in the White House, I guess that doesn't apply.
The difference in dissent, Our_Linn, is that the dissent from Bush was based on his policy and his incompetence, not on his race. There is a significant portion of the republican party that hates the fact that a black man was elected President. These same people continue to slander the President.
If you have a genuine policy disagreement with the President, dissent! Make your voice heard. But that's not what we're hearing from people like Glen Beck, who called Obama a racist.
Jimmy Carter wasn't President during the Oil Embargo it was Richard Nixon. It started October 1973 and ended March 1974 long before Jimmy Carter took office in 1977. Don't take my word for it, google it.It is to easy to print falsehoods and for others to follow like sheep. Baaaaaaaaa
Let's make a bet; Obama will give 15 million illegal immigrants amnesty immediately following passage of their health care plan. Their lips speak one thing while they're planning on providing freebies to their voting pool. Pass the bill then instantly grant Amnesty.
The Light:
The Race card is played by your lunacy democrats. Affirmative action and equal employment goals is the only reason race becomes an issue these days. Lose the goals and let the people stand on their own two feet and create their own destiny. The issue is that they're too lazy and stupid to create their own future. They'd rather sleep all day, prowl all night, and whine and complain on what isn't being given to them. This isn't something republicans enabled; this is pushed for and crammed down our throats by democrats.
Obama is a prime example of why the system doesn't work. The race card was used for his educational expenses and career. He used the affirmative action race card to get a degree without becoming educated. He may have been elected but by no means does that means he is educated. His choices and leadership roles he has shown to-date speaks for his education level. He has to hire Czars because he isn't educated enough to make his own choices.
When Obama stands on his own two feet and fires the Czars and begins to make sound choices for America as a whole not his welfare blood sucking recipients then people will take him seriously. Until this occurs, he is a puppet to Soros and the lunatic party.
People respect those who stand on their own two feet and accountable for their actions and choices. Obama blames everyone from the past for what is occurring today. If he truly wants to be a leader then by all means, he needs to step up to the plate an provide leadership. Until then, he is worthless.

Shame on you KalihiValleyBoy.......Telling it like it is and using facts to back up your argument. That's hitting below the belt.
I noticed that most of those who sleep over on the right ignored your post which doesn't surprise me.
The "truth will set you free" and those who reside on the right have no inclination to ever be free.
That would cause great difficulty for them when it came to listening to right-wing nut-case radio and watching FOX NEWS....
Another intelligent discussion - I have a rotten tomato - wait a second - woooooooooooosh - here it comes and will indiscrimately hit all of you! There, now we are all red men together.

I love how you tree huggers use Carter for your poster child.
Carter is becoming a more bitter and virulent man every day of his life. He's a subservient poodle doing the bidding of, and obeying, the Democrat National Committee. Whatever is asked of him to do on the behalf of partisan politics he is only too happy to comply. Whether it's trashing any ideology that doesn't fit with Pure Liberalism, siding with Palestinian terrorists or bestowing legitimacy to the rigged "elections" of world dictators with his Carter Center, Jimmy is more than willing to allow his puppet strings be pulled and manipulated for the sole reason of rank partisanship.
Let's review the highlights of Carter's sickly and suffocating four year presidency: The On-Line Encyclopedia Britannica states:
* that during the Carter Administration the inflation rate climbed higher each year he was in office, rising from 6 percent in 1976 to more than 12 percent by 1980
* the unemployment rate remained high at 7.5 percent
* interest rates reached a high of 20 percent or more twice during 1980
As if the above three items wouldn't economically cripple a nation by themselves, the U.S. experienced a horrendous energy crisis that Carter was incapable and impotent of resolving. Raise your hand and yell "Whoooo-Hoooo" if you want to return to the Carter-Mondale era of cars stacked in long lines outside of gas stations and setting your home thermostat to 65 degrees.
And let's not forget that the U.S., for its first time in history - under Carter - demonstrated and displayed weakness to the world by failing to effectively resolve the hostage crisis in Tehran. We're still paying a price today for Carter's dreadful and feeble foreign policies. Carter's disastrous attempt to rescue the hostages via his botched plan, Operation Eagle Claw, only underscores his abysmal failure as Commander In Chief.
So ineffectual was Carter in handling the hostage crisis, that the hostages were released when Ronald Regan took office. Allegations that the Reagan campaign had secretly negotiated with Iran not to release the hostages until after the election was investigated by a congressional subcommittee - a Democrat majority at the time - and never proven. No witnesses were ever found to substantiate the allegations that Reagan has any "secret deal" with Iran.
Let's look at The Misery Index - the inflation rate plus the unemployment rate - as rated by president, especially Carter's single, four year term (note: the higher the number, the higher the degree of misery):
* Carter's Misery Index scores a 16.27.
* George W. Bush's Misery Index for his term to date is 7.96, well below half that of Carter.
Other failures of the Carter-Mondale Administration run as lengthy as a paper roll print-out of an auditor's calculator. These are but a few of Carter's transgressions:
* in his first month in office he cut the Defense Budget by $6 Billion dollars
* he unilaterally removed all nuclear weapons and reduced U.S. Troop levels in South Korea
* he canceled the B-1 bomber program, further weakening the U.S. Military
* he reinstated the draft
* his SALT (Strategic Arms Limitations Talks) One and Two treaties served only to weaken U.S. defense
* Carter's National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski admitted that the United States began sending aid to anti-Soviet Afghan Islamist factions on July 3, 1979 (even then Carter was a sympathetic ally of Islam fascists)
* Carter and Brzezinski started a $40 billion covert program of training Islamic fundamentalists in Pakistan and Afghanistan
* he single-handedly ruined our relationship with Iran, a U.S. ally since World War II thereby allowing Iran's maturation into the world threat that it is today
* he refused to allow American athletes to participate in the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics
* he increased the payroll tax for Social Security
* the prime lending rate hit 21.5% in December 1980, the highest rate in U.S. history under any President
Finally, I would be remiss not to mention that on April 20, 1979, Carter was attacked by... a rabbit. Even rabbits knew that Carter was a weak, fragile and cowardly man who wouldn't fight back and defend himself.
I can now see why you are proud of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. These three must excite the party to no avail. They're following their traditions. Can't manage money, screws America, and provides aid and comfort to the Enemies. Be proud of your accomplishments when unemployment hits 20%, illegal immigrants rule the streets, and your left holding a sign "WILL WORK FOR FOOD", you earned it, you own it.
its2hot - whoosh - a tomato for you - may you enjoy your food! Ok, so Jimmy, like the rest, was limited. He is a SAINT who has resolved many international crisis and stands in the trenches with the poor. I hear he is a bit opinionated. Governor Schwartzneger recently noted that Carter started and advocated energy policies that if they had been continued - would have meant that we would be in good shape today. So far as gas lines - well I suggest that you take a bus and that more of the saints who write on here do the same. The problem with energy is our narcisstic consumption thinking that is our right! Under those schemes it appears also to be our right to die because of the rationing of the health care conglomerate. Ok, have a good weekend and a wonderful SUNDAY!
Affirmative action is designed to support minorities as a form of welfare. I deal with this daily in my line of work and it is sickening to those of us who choose to work. We are forced to hire the lazy who have no desire to work, they can cause problems, come to work drunk, be crack heads, dopers, pr pretty much the scum of the earth yet we are forced to provide payroll checks to them regardless. Failure to provide certified payrolls in compliance of the affirmative action requirements; we're fined amounts that don't justify not paying these lazy bungers.
Work in Oakland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, North Las Vegas, and you try and find 51% affirmative action local hiring policies and then produce anything useful with these people. You won't. They move up the rank and file yet they've produced nothing meaningful or useful.
The issue being just because people hold an office and they came up through the rank and file surely dosen't mean they're qualified. Obama came up through the system and is the poster child of affirmative action; this doesn't mean he qualified to be president? His appointments made to date along with the Czars he put in office clearly show the incompetence of his education he received. This even becomes more evident when you take the stimulus package he touted as rebuilding America's Infrastructures. This is an outright lie; 42 billion out of the 786 billion is being spent on Infrastructure, the rest is being spent on social programs.
The democrats expect us to believe they can purpose a healthcare overhaul that works. They lied about the purpose of the 785 billion, failed at cash for clunkers, the administration is riddled with tax cheats and we now know liars, and they want our trust. To top this off, democrats have supported Acorn since their inception that appears to promote and support illicit behavior, falsify ballots, and yet Obama remains dead silent on this topic.
Again for those that chose to ignore my previous post the Oil Embargo happened during the Nixon administration not Carter. What were you folks smoking? I was smoking Kona Gold and I remember it correctly.
Yes, Carter helped the Afghan rebels. This was to help fight against Russia whom invaded Afghanistan. Which is why the US boycotted the Olympics, to protest the invasion of that country.
As for defense budget cuts I didn't see any evidence to that while working on Kwajalein Missile Range of the Pacific. It was a prosperous time for all that worked there. We are sooo militarily advanced from the rest of the pack it is not funny. We can drop a missile within six feet from a target thousands of miles away.Who gives a feces if Iran drops one missile on the US. We'll just level their CENSORED country into a CENSORED parking lot.
Make it uninhabitable for thousands of years like we did to Bikini Island and Enawetok.
Reagan had no secret agreement, not after it was exposed. Can you say Iran/Contra? Arms for hostages?
As for reinstating the draft. That's not quite true. He reinstated the requirement to register but the military remains an all volunteer.
In Iran we propped up the Shah,a ruthless dictator in the interest of oil.Sound familiar? Oh yeah, for years we were friendly with a dude named Sadam. Baaaaaaaaa
its2hot, Thanks for the posts. Obama is going to make Carter look like a genius before he's done!
Steele isn't playing the race card the democrats are. They use the race card to instill fear and promote hatred when it suits their needs. Their needs right now, sucking the life blood out of Americans to promote more lazy people so that become even more dependent on the system and rely solely on the government.
I for one am sick and tired of the lies and hatred democrats practice and force feed the down their followers minds because they're too stupid to know otherwise. It's about time Americans stand up and take back what is being lost, our heritage and what our forefathers envisioned for this country. What the democrats and pushing to pass is not even close, they evil sadistic people that have no use or value to most Americans.
Here is the policy of Democrats, they promise to rich to keep the poor out of their neighborhoods only if the rich keep donating to their party. As long as this system works, the poor will never be in their communities and race and class warfare remains active. They like to divide, concur and promote race and class warfare. This is sick and most of America is tired of it and with Obama and clan leading the charge, it is become very evident what the end game is and they won't win this game. For those who support these lunatics and their policies, you're in the same boat.
Good day!
Wasn't Carter's claim to fame that he was a New-key-ear engineer? At least until the truth came out theat he was a nuclear engineering officer on a submarine. Another liar.
Obama went to their place of business and called them liars, Wilson was just calling Obama the same thing he had called those who oppose him. The following Friday Obama issued clarification on his stand proving Wilson correct. The left wing portrayed Bush as Hitler I guess that was alright. Also Peloosi said protest was a form of patriotism, gee I guess she meant protest against Republicans are patriotic. When Kennedy opposed Thomas no one called him a racist. Extremism in the search of Socialism is no vice in the view of the lunatic left wing.
Very true. Most politicians are quite ugly, especially conservatives. They're all just a bunch of actors who were too ugly to be in showbiz.
Why is it that a lot of GOPers can't stand to see that there are people who disagree with them?
Is it because they are always right? It must be nice to know that the Right wing is always correct.
Are we(as Americans)going to be rude and interrupt every time we don't like what we hear? The Right Wing is through! BooHoo call A Whaambulance! You lost the election, your ideas are bankrupt, and the demographics have changed. So, go hate on some undocumented workers. Unless, they are Canadians or Asians. To state that the GOP hasn't been taken over by extremists is to live in denial.
For those who say race is not a factor in some of these town halls and protests - I have to ask:
Did anyone ask for Bush's birth certificate? Or did he look like "one of us"
Did anyone suggest Bush go back to "socialist" England?
Did anyone float a doctored postcard showing not watermelons in the WH garden but maybe tankards of Ale?
Hey bdm. "...who say race is not a factor in some of these town halls and protests."
That's a pretty deep statement there.
Let's say... If one out of 1,000 people attending a Tea Party rally has raciest tendencies, is that considered a factor? No? Well, what is the ratio that raises to the level of being a factor? 30%? 50%?
The rest of your rant is total crap...
that poor thumper, rabid bulldog that he is.
Comes in through the doggie door of The Sun every day, craps on the carpet, pees on the walls, and challenges anyone in the room to
challenge him. He's got that goofy bulldog overbite, the mange has taken over, and the
fleas are driving him CRAAAAZY!
DOWN, BOY, DOWN!
Looks like Thumper is calling people spades, now that's racist. How come alot of Republicans are leaving off "President" when they mention President Obama? *HMMMM* Even though alot of people who oppossed President GW Bush, they still called him, President Bush. So who is the racist now????
phargo.

Now, time for your walk! C'mon, thumper.
Well, upon further review, it does appear the link violated Sun policy.
I apologize for that.

Ghost,
You're wrong, fascism is very much a left of center political philosophy. Beyond racism and militarism (which are not the sole spheres of the right mind you) fascism advocated socialist policies including wealth redistribution and more.
See the Nazi Party platform and take note: http://users.stlcc.edu/rkalfus/PDFs/026....
1) nationalisation of large corporate firms
2) abolishment of income from investments and property rent
3) old age pension
4) very much anti materialist and anti capitalist
...I told you NOT to take the discussion there.

Sorry little "free trader" but you're wrong. The Nazi's hated socialism and communism. Go read Mein Kampf and then get back to me. Through out the book, Hitler attacks the Communists and the socialists.
Other than the Jews, Hitler and the Nazi's never took away the right of German citizens to own property or own their own business......
The Krupp family ran the largest steel manufacturing works in Europe (maybe the world) and they produced a majority of the armaments that the Third Reich needed for the war and guess what?
The company was privately owned by the Krupp family before, during and after the war...
I'm surprised at you....reading and believing all that "liberal fascism" crap put out there by Jonah Goldberg and his buddies.....
Haven't you and I gone down this road before?
Hilter was the political leader of the "The National Socialist German Worker's Party".
He constantly talked in terms of "The People".
Some of their party platform:
"The first duty of every citizen must be to work mentally or physically. The activities of the individual may not clash with the interests of the whole, but must proceed within the frame of the community and be for the general good.
Therefore we demand:
That all unearned income, and all income that does not arise from work, be abolished.
We demand the nationalization of businesses which have been organized into cartels.
We demand that all the profits from wholesale trade shall be shared out.
We demand extensive development of provision for old age.
We demand the creation and maintenance of a healthy middle-class, the immediate communalization of department stores which will be rented cheaply to small businessmen, and that preference shall be given to small businessmen for provision of supplies needed by the State, the provinces and municipalities.
We demand a land reform in accordance with our national requirements, and the enactment of a law to confiscate from the owners without compensation any land needed for the common purpose. The abolition of ground rents, and the prohibition of all speculation in land."
PvtRock.....
The Nazi's believed in an extreme form of right-wing nationalism. Everything for the benefit of the state. One might say, a controlled type of capitalism....a "hybrid capitalism."
Mussolini did pretty much the same thing in Italy but he didn't push the "final solution" thing with Italy's Jews. Many Jews left Italy before the war but the Jews in Italy never suffered the way the Jews in Germany did....
As I said earlier, the Nazi's believed in private ownership of land and business.
The Krupp family never gave up their ownership of the Krupp Steel Works. That's the company that was the chief armaments producer in Germany during the war...
Hitler's big hero was the American industralist Henry Ford. Hitler had a life size portrait of Henry in his study. Hitler and the Nazi's weren't against capitalism...they just wanted to some what control it.
I find it interesting that Hitler didn't put the German economy on a complete "war time footing" until 1943. The United States and Great Britain were on a complete "war time footing" much, much earlier...
The German people continued to own their homes and businesses through out the war. Yes, the Jews lost their land and wealth to the Third Reich. That started way back in the early 1930's. Right after Hitler came to power......are you familiar with the Nuremberg Laws?
I'll tell you the same thing that I told "free trader." Go read Mein Kampf and then come back and we'll have a great debate....
Have you ever read Mein Kampf? If not, you should.... Another great read is "Inside the Third Reich," written by Albert Speer. Speer was Hitler's armaments minister. His leadership probably prolonged the war by at least a year. Another book written by Speer was "Spandau." Great book but no longer in print.
Not too bad there Wofey.
I could understand everything you wrote.
As a matter of fact, I think your facts were correct. (like that?)
One question, why are people who post here so fixated on Hitler and the Third Reich?
Gotto go catch to morning news. Yes, on FOX...
Wolfy: was that you humming the Horst Wessel Lied this morning?
Wolfy does not know it as "Horst Wessel Lied."
He learned it as "Die Fahne hoch."
I thought he was humming "Rambling Rose."
Wolfy is getting ready for Oktoberfest and bought himself a new pair of Nelke Lederhosen. This year he is taking Little Red Riding Hood with him to eat. I hope he does not get bad breath...
Larry, you get the "Chuckle of the Day" award, at Wolfy's expense.
Wow! I'm stunned.....a right winger with a sense of humor. What's next? One that can actually think?
No....on second thought that would be expecting way too much... There's miracles and then there's miracles.....
Hey Wolfy,
I have had a tough day and would like you opinionated view of a thought that I have had.
I have noticed that the amount of angry rhetoric coming out of the die hard Obama supporters has obtained a new peak.
Could it be that some of these supporters are beginning to lose faith in the President and his performance and their venting their frustrations?
Or... The President has approximately 30% of voters who are die-hards and will never leave him no matter what happens. The other 20-30% are the moderate Democrats and Independents who will step back from the President when they think they have to do so to save the Democratic Party.
As with George Bush, there became a point in his presidency that he lost the moderate Republicans and Independents.
Could this be beginning to also happen with the current administration?
Now, I have a head ache....
