Two brothers who drowned in Lake Mohave identified

Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 | 11:02 a.m.

Two brothers who drowned earlier this month at Lake Mohave have been identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

A coroner's spokeswoman said 29-year-old Eduardo Zamora-Sanchez and 33-year-old Jose Zamora-Sanchez died from drowning on Sept. 1. The deaths were ruled accidental, the coroner's office said.

Neither man was wearing a life jacket as they swam at Six Mile Cove, just south of Cottonwood Cove on Lake Mohave, the National Park Service said.

Park rangers, Metro Police and Clark County Fire Department rescuers responded to a 911 call at 8:45 p.m. Sept. 1 from a camper who had seen the two men earlier in the evening.

The caller said a body was floating face down in the lake's water at Six Mile Cove, a popular and secluded swimming area.

Metro Police and county fire emergency rescue crews pulled the first body out of the water, then rangers continued searching for a second man, who was found in 6 feet of water about 10:40 p.m., according to the park service.

Rangers also located the men's car on shore and found identification indicating that both were Mexican nationals living in Las Vegas.
