Drive-by shooting
Metro Police are looking for four men in a beat-up, green Toyota car they say were involved in the shooting of a 13-year-old girl in the northwest Las Vegas Valley on Friday night.
The girl was shot in one of her legs about 10 p.m., police said. She was taken to a hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the girl was sitting on a bench near Lake Mead Boulevard and Torrey Pines Drive when a four-door car drove by. The occupants flashed a gang symbol at her, but she replied she did not belong to any gangs, police said. Then a shot rang out, police said.
Metro's gang unit responded to the scene. Torrey Pines at Lake Mead was closed to through traffic, police said.

vegas is getting bad. this kind of thing used to be only in north las vegas, now the northwest side of town is getting bad.

How about accountability and stop blaming everyone else for their choices they made in their life. This is the problem with you liberals, liberals have enabled their followers not to be accountable and to use the race card whenever they get in trouble or blame somebody else for their choices.
When people can't blame the past or anyone else for their shortcomings and they are held accountable for their actions to fullest extent allowed, crime will lessen and America will be a much better place. Until this occurs, the projects and the criminal elements know they have a safe haven and someone else to blame.

And its2hot where or how would blaming anyone for any troubles possibly have prevented this?
What may have prevented this is education, economic opportunity, dignity and possibly some compassion early on in life.
And FYI: I don't tend to make excuses for crime, not on a personal level. I believe that the current social and economic system is a huge driving factor and definitely a REASON for a lot of crime, but rarely, if ever, an EXCUSE for it. If they catch these guys they should goto prison for a long time.

You're about the first liberal that doesn't believe in the party lines. I'm at a loss with your way of thinking, WOW! There is hope for some of the liberals after all. Now if you could bottle your thought process and sell it to the rest of the Democratic Party you'd be an American Icon, not to mention, FILTHY RICH!
The first point to my response is that they've been trained to make excuses since birth and this has been instilled in their blood stream for years and years. They don't know any better so they have an understanding that shooting people isn't a life sentence. They'll get counseling or some type special treatment and they will find some way to blame somebody or someone else for the choice made at that second when the trigger was pulled. Anybody with any self respect or wouldn't have pulled the trigger and when it happens to a child it is clearly being done without any remorse or care of life.
The second point to my response is that I for one am sick and tired of liberals and their approach to life in general. They promote slow, stupid, and lazy and want Americans to be divided. They don't practice what they preach yet they try and cram down our throats something the political leaders don't believe in themselves. The politicians are immune from the very laws they pass yet they expect to live under their thumb. Hogwash, Pelosi, Reid, Obama, and the rest of lunatics are worthless.

Yes it probably would. We could also tap everyone's phone and put cameras on every corner and assign block captains to every area to check up on the people. We could outlaw public ownership of guns and cars too, maybe institute an internal passport system while we are at it.
Crime would probably go way down, but none of that is anything I want to have anything to do with, including public corporal punishment.

I actually like the stock and pillory idea of Spock's. Unlike the Mayor's meaningless tough talk about chopping of the hands of graffiti punks, public humiliation and derision is a fair form of punishment and deterence, in my estimation. Well, in the case of these probable gang-bangers who shot the girl, they'll need to be locked up away from society. But for less heinous acts, I don't believe it to be "cruel or unusual" to punish criminals with public humiliation -especially gang-bangers who don't care about jail, but DO care immensely about their image.
Heck, this is the rationale behind having DUI convicts pick up trash in Downtown LV, wearing bright orange vests that say for all to see "DUI."
