One of the Wranglers' most successful rookies from last season is most likely returning for another year in Las Vegas.
The Wranglers have tentatively agreed to terms with 26-year-old forward Mick Lawrence for the upcoming season.
Lawrence joined the Wranglers last season after four years at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he notched 102 points in 146 career college games.
Although Lawrence battled through several injuries last year, the Port Coquitlam, British Columbia native still scored 16 goals with 18 assists in 38 regular season contests.
The physical 5-foot-10, 205-pound Lawrence also took 85 penalty minutes in the regular season. in the playoffs, Lawrence added three goals and 27 penalty minutes in 13 games.
"I'm excited to get him back," said Wranglers coach and general manager Ryan Mougenel. "Mick adds a lot to this team and I think if he stays healthy he can really jump start his career."
The Wranglers start training camp on Oct. 1 and will play one home preseason game on Oct. 8 against the Ontario Reign for the first of nine Thursday Thirsty $1 beer nights.
Las Vegas opens the regular season on Oct. 16 against the Utah Grizzlies at 7:05 p.m. at the Orleans Arena.
Elsewhere: The Idaho Steelheads agreed to terms with forward Garrett Regan who appeared in two games with the Wranglers last season. Regan posted two assists in those two games following his career at Notre Dame.
The Orleans Arena, a Boyd Gaming facility located just west of the Las Vegas Strip, is one of the nation’s leading mid-sized arenas, and was recently ranked No. 1 in the United States and No. 5 internationally among venues of similar size by Venues Today Magazine.
The Arena hosts more than 200 events each year, including concerts by top names like Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Van Halen, Brooks & Dunn, Black Eyed Peas, Akon and Rihanna; family favorites like The Harlem Globetrotters and Circus Spectacular; and a wide variety of sporting events, including NCAA basketball tournaments, the West Coast Conference and Western Athletic Conference Basketball Championships, mixed martial arts with Superior Cage Combat, and major motorsports events.
