Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009 | 3:18 p.m.
The company that owns the Las Vegas Hilton is getting a new boss.
Colony Resorts LVH Acquisitions LLC disclosed Monday that Colony Capital LLC executive David Monahan has been hired as chief operating officer and ultimately will become the company's chief executive and general manager.
Monahan, 53, has served since 1995 as senior vice president of Los Angeles investment group Colony Capital, where he has overseen its hotel portfolio.
Monahan is to receive an annual salary of $500,000, along with a bonus of at least $200,000, Colony Resorts LVH said in a regulatory filing. He will also receive options to purchase membership units in the company.
A spokesman said Colony Capital would have no immediate comment on plans for Rodolfo Prieto, who has been serving as chief executive and general manager of Colony Resorts LVH.
Investors in Colony Resorts LVH include Colony Capital, affiliates of investment bank Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Nicholas Ribis.

Maybe the new boss will fire the inept casino manager and table games manager, and replace them with people intelligent enough to remove the ridiculous ripoff blackjack games that have chased off all but the stupidest of customers, and customers willing to play the $100 minimum six-deck games. With present management, the Hilton will soon be gasping its last breaths. The sportsbook is the only competently-run component of what once was a good casino.

Rudy Prieto is a very nice guy who was in a bad situation. Losing Ira Sternberg was also a big blow. Never heard of this new guy, but he's got big shoes to fill.
We can only hope that the new Boss not only knows his stuff but is able to see through the multiple layers of poor management, harassment, favoritism and genuine ineptness that plague our Hotel/casino. She was once the jewel of Vegas and so many people miss that. Help bring her back to her grand status
Gaming? Doesn't that mean some sort of contest?
Have you been in a crap game at the Hilton lately?
In my opinion this is how
the game has changed.
the padding has all been taken out of the crap tables
...now there is a hard surface with the felt layed
on top of it.
and the dice are called "Razor Edge" Dice.
and they are made out of
pressed cotton.
and the effect this has on
the dice:
sometimes they will skip
down the table like someone
skidding a rock across the
water.....and then the sharp
points of the dice will catch in the felt and a
seven will appear...usually after you have already established a point.
and for the last 3-4 weeks
the Slots in my opinion are
about a 20% pay back.
Yes, i too long for the Grand Old Hilton...but i am
afraid that once they pull off the manipulation of the
Table Games and the Slots...
that they will never go back
to the way it use to be.
In closing they can only do
it to the locals as long as
we condone it by continuing to play there.
I LONG FOR THE GOOD OLE' DAYS.
i have just posted the comments above and forgot
to establish where i got the information and research
on the "Razor Edge Dice."
